Songs Of The Week (Apr 26, 2011)

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on April 26th, 2011

Hey guys! Been a while, eh?

[Song List]
When Petals Fall by Ikodo Moonstrife — Classical / For Beginners Only / 1:48
Through the Martian Hell by ThePlasmas — Rock / Challenging / 1:03
Everything Went Numb by Streetlight Manifesto — Purchased [1,500] / Very Challenging / 2:15
honki sentai majirenjaa by TAG (remixed by YU) — Secret [23,000] / For Masters Only / 2:58

One of our profilic simfile artists continues his unspoken obsession with Ikodo Moonstrife, accounting for (now) all eight charts by this artist. With this release comes When Petals Fall, a very serene and almost dreamlike melody spanning over the course of nearly two minutes. However, don’t let the short length fool you — the very light nature of this song makes it play a bit longer than it really is, and the chart is easy enough for even the least proficient keysmashers to score perfectly on. Chart is by Silvuh, and is located in the Classical genre.

If your head is still intact from all of the headbanging that Four Blocks Madness may have caused, you’ll be able to enjoy another release by ThePlasmas. This time, they come to the game with Through the Martian Hell. As short as this song is, it does pack a decent amount of difficulty with some pretty hectic jumpstream for the last third of the song. Similar to the Ikodo Moonstrife preference, woker-X seems to have an affinity with ThePlasmas, as he is responsible for this chart. This song will be waiting for you in the Rock genre.

Ska lovers, rejoice! We have a new artist appearing in FFR’s public song list – a group native from Jersey, and very well known as Streetlight Manifesto. Streetlight Manifesto comes to FFR today with their popular hit – Everything Went Numb. In comparison to the other level 10 chart in our releases, Everything Went Numb is considerably more technical, carrying around many layered mini-jacks. Leave it to who_cares973 to make yet another technical chart for an enjoyable song. As with many premium charts, you will have to pay a few credits to get them. A few being 1,500. A day’s worth of keysmashing should be more than enough to put this in your Purchased genre.

Finally, we have honki sentai majirenjaa, a remix by Yu. If you thought saying the name was a handful, the chart is just as challenging as the proper pronounciation of the name. This song has a very difficult chart that pushes just about every skill – jacks, jumpstream, bursts, trilling, colored rhythms; you’ll see all of it in here. The hardest AND longest of our releases is sure to give even the most experienced players a run for their money — and chart connoisseur bmah is responsible for it. You too, can play this chart, but only if you have at least 23,000 credits sitting in your credit bank.

Have an enjoy!

EDIT – We forgot to mention, “Through the Martian Hell” is the 1000th song in this game!

  9. woo more songs i was wonderin when more were gonna come out

  10. When are we gonna stop seeing bad files with terrible usage of Mini Jacks.

  11. they’re not terrible usage, you just need to play right

  12. No they’re bad. You’re just looking at it with your dumb glasses on.

  13. Christ, Middie. Quit being a dick for the sake of being a dick and just appreciate the fact that we even *get* new files at the rate that we do now.

  14. No you just have no idea what you’re talking about.

  15. NC has spoken the truth. Middie also needs his daily dose dose of dick in mouth or else he’ll stay grumpy

  16. Jx* stupid auto correct

  17. By the way, Through the Martian Hell is listed as a challenging (9) in-game, not very challenging (10).

  18. It recently changed.

  19. Honki Sentai Majirenjaa sounded good at first, then the vocals kicked in. Um…no thanks <.<

  20. honki is hard

  21. I for one am excited we have new songs. :)

Thanks to all those who put the work in to make them.

  22. Curse my dyslexia! I keep reading the last song as:

    Sonki Hentai Marijuana . . .

  23. holy shit streetlight O_O

  24. Treia: If that’s dyslexia, put me on meds. I see that every time too XD

  25. I think they’re placebos :/

  26. I wish I could turn the LAG modifier OFF!

Just because I have Flash 10 doesn’t mean I SHOULD have to change it! Adobe needs to get their crap right!

I noticed static framerate stops (“Stop-Lag”) on other Flash Games (on Newgrounds) so it’s not just restricted to FFR.

Except on standard flash games it does not cause their framerate to decay for a period of time like it does here.

Failing the song and then restarting it seems to work. But since you can’t go even 4 minutes without any lag….it’s a wash.

And shame on the sites that REQUIRE Flash 10. I was just fine with Flash 8 or 9, thanks!

  27. @MI4 REAL It’s not this site’s fault, it’s your computer. There is no lag with me.

  28. I’m sure you’re right.

But I also believe that is has been confirmed that Flash 10 causes this game to lag.

I had no problems with this site until after it came back up, back then I had Flash 9.

  29. @MI4 i have flash 10 and it causes this game lag major time which holds me back from getting decent ranks on songs

Hopefully you can get to it before our imminent end.

  31. This only shows how little the standalone player is advertised: many people are still unaware of it and/or don’t know how to use it.

You’ll need to download an Adobe Flash 8 or 9 for the best results; that doesn’t mean you’re downgrading: the Flash 8/9 player is for the standalone only. All applications on the internet will still use the latest version of Flash.

  32. Ahhh! That’s much better!

Still got some jauntiness, but it’s playable once again!

  33. I agree bmah. I came to FFR, post-death, and the insane lag was the first thing I noticed. I read a post somewhere about a standalone flash player. I was like, “What is that!?”. Looked that up, and everything’s been gravy since.

I’m running Flash 10. Does this effect play in standalone? I mean, for the most part, it’s sufficient, but it wouldn’t hurt to play at optimal levels, right? :P

  34. Oh whoops, I just understood your comment, bmah. Both my systems have Flash 10, but different standalone players. My laptop has Standalone of Flash 10, and my desktop has Standalone of Flash 8. I just need 9 or 8 on my laptop. No need to reply to me. I should of ate some breakfast before asking questions hahah
