Songs Of The Week (Apr 1, 2011)
We have 4 new songs for this week, 3 of them are relatively hard ones.
2 regular songs and 2 secret songs, and Secret Zombie Room was moved to Legacy.
{Lazy Summer Days} (Silvuh) – (G) Secret [50]; (D) 5; (L) 1:15;
Grist (Patashu) – (G) Rock; (D) 12; (L) 2:03;
Guitar Sounds (who_cares973) – (G) Secret [2,800]; (D) 10; (L) 2:37;
Variations 2 (jimerax) – (G) Arcade; (D) 10; (L) 2:05;
As you may notice, these songs were released as 1.5 music speed (1.498x, precisely)
for the April fool event. We hope you guys enjoyed this event.
*winning* had pretty interesting features and was released for the April fool event too,
but it was removed now. Maybe it will come back as a token song someday.
Have Fun!

Variations 2 is pretty enjoyable ^^

Was it really necessary for the one BPM change in Lazy Summer Days to be 2 notes from the end? I can’t believe I had to play that more than once :/

I like the idea of 1.5X speed songs, but I’m guessing there’s no way that could be an option for any song.

Was it just me or was *winning* terribly sync’d anyway?
Posted at 8:20pm on April 6th, 2011
It was about as sync’d as Tribal Revival if I remember right. If you play it exactly on beat, you’ll get almost nothing but goods. I wish FFR was more strict about synching. A lot of songs have gotten by, even recently, that you’d do better on with the volume off. And a lot of older ones like Euphoria are long and boring and have too much empty space and the most obnoxious offsync slowjacks you can imagine. I have a feeling I’m gonna AAA every level 9 before I can even flag that ridiculous artifact, but meh, what can ya do.

@hemeon: of course the song was offsync. Velocity made the file in less than 30 minutes, and if you’ve noticed, all of the arrows were 24th beat values (pink arrows). In addition, it’s not a serious file, and it adds to the challenge of AAAing this joke of a song.
@Mike Weedmark: which brings me to the point that *Winning* was a joke and is not in any way representative of normal syncing on FFR. Also Mike, are you aware of Velocity’s FFR engine (not the official FFR engine), where you can change the offsets? By having this option, offsync arrows are a non-issue. The only exceptions are older songs (e.g. Synthlight songs) where there are different degrees of offsyncness within a song; in these cases, you can never have a song perfectly onsync. Other than that, you have no excuses about sync issues…FFR already has strict standards regarding the syncing of songs anyways.

The song I was talking about IS a synth song, and yes I’m aware of the offset feature. The offset can only be adjusted by the number of frames though, whereas some songs are offsync by smaller time values that are still noticeable even with the right setting. It’s not as big a deal as it could be though, since all of the harder songs tend to have VERY good sync. It’s just kind of annoying to know I’m probably gonna have a non-AAA list at some point that starts at 9 except for one stupid 3
But I’m not meaning to be all up in peoples’ shit about it. It’s more of a funny observation than a real gripe.

Oh man. Never expected to see Grist on FFR. So damn awesome.
Posted at 9:25pm on April 6th, 2011
@Mike: yeah, that is true. Some songs have an ideal sync that is in between a whole-number frames. It was asked before, but it isn’t possible to divide frames into half frames and so on, due to how Flash works.

The Sync was off cause I never cared enough in the 30 minutes I made the file to fix the sections that were off majorly. The notes were 24th/pink because I edited the swf to do that.
