Skill Tokens Official List?

This will most likely be a heated debate. Should we make the FFR Skill Tokens available as a public list or should we continue to keep them wrapped in mystery? As the next few days approach, we have the capacity to add many new FFR Skill Token levels to FFR and I would like to know everyone’s opinion.
* Possible new skill token release tonight.

Well without a list there are no hints with millions of potential ways of unlocking them. The chances of stumbling onto one would be the same as winning a small lottery. I’d just assume keep the finding portion to the normal tokens and the skill to the skill tokens that their name would suggest. Lest you change their name to “Luck Tokens”.

Actually doing it may be hard for some people, so wrapping up what they have to do may give some people false hopes if they can’t accomplish it, then they just spend days trying to get a token they can’t get. Knowing what they need to do will probably encourage them to get better depending on the goal.

They’re called SKILL tokens, I believe the only thing that should be needed to get them is skill, and not luck.

I say make the list avalable. it doesn’t matter either way, the person still needs to be able to meet the requirements. Even knowing what to do, it takes a long time to actualy get it. I mean, i’ve been trying to get one, and I still havn’t met the requirements for the song. just make the list. It’s not like it’ll ruin the fun. Now making a list for the other tokens…

I think maybe making some public and some hidden is a good choice, makes it more interesting. It’s not fun to always know what you have to do — keeps people guessing.

Release the list. If you already have met the requirement you surely wont stumble across if you need to AAA a song you laready have got a AAA on.

There should be a list after a certain period of time, not right away. Like, maybe after 100 people get the skill token or something, then you should add it to the list.
I mean, you have to find regular tokens, so you should have to find, as well as meet the requirements for, the skill token.
Although when the skill token is released, a hint should be given as to the song, just like a hint is given as to where the regular tokens are.

And also, maybe there should be a small credit bonus for the first time you get the token? So there is another reward besides having another song to beat?
And if you REALLY want to piss people off, have a skill token be AAA Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star, then have that song be a 12/12, and have to AAA that to get another token, and that song becomes the new easiest song in the game.

It’s just so much funnier to work for something before getting it than just getting it by chance… and with a list, the tokens would be a good indication of a player’s skill, rather than of his contacts and his time spent in the forums.

Totally going to want a list. Cause I agree, if you’ve already AAA’d a lot of songs, and some of them are ones you wouldn’t necessarily want to play again, it’d be good to know, “Hell, looks like if I want this skill token, I’ll have to do this one again.” Plus if a list is available, you can be by far more creative with prereqs to getting them

Like for example, rather than hiding them and most people trying to AAA songs, you can do ones stating get in between this score, or get this many perfects. Hell, even passing a song with an extremely low score.

Yes to list for Skill tokens. Skill tokens IMO should be like a challenge that doesn’t require to be hidden like normal tokens, because it is already challenging enough to AAA a song or passing a certain stage for beginners (like Bonus Yoshi Round). So all I say is…

Skimming through the above comments, I didn’t notice anybody saying no. I’m going to have to agree with them. Differentiating the ways new songs can be obtained is a great idea. From my understanding, the concept behind regular tokens is that they have to be sought out in the manner of a puzzle or within the depths of the website. While obtaining a skill token after achieving something in the game, without knowing a song would be rewarded, would be pretty cool, it would add an extra amount of difficulty on top of being able to complete the necessary requirement.

I think a list would be best because it will allow people to challenge themselves via their “skills.” As for mysteries….that should be applied to tokens only. This is my opinion.

I think you should make the list, and release more toikens. I also think that you shouldn’t have to play songs in a certain order, that doesn’t take skill, neither does 250 Perfects on FotBB, I think every Skill Token should be obtained by AAAing a certain song, I also think you should make the list saying what songs you have to AAA. Because with like 200 songs on FFR about 180-190 possible to AAA, I think you shouldn’t give us hints like original tokens, I’m sick of that. If anything, if you make a list, please show what songs we have to AAA or whatever we have to do.

As a member of Team Token, I think releasing them would be a great idea, because c’mon: If we had to
1) Find the token, AND
2) Have the skill to complete it
It wouldn’t be much fun. You would either have to release a list for the skill tokens or have many whiny people like these crying for help. And I’m sure someone would blow it as soon as he gets it so he can show how awesome he is

ok public for sure becuase of all the song possibilities, it could be getting above a certain score or AAA’ing a song, so that means a LOT of guessing. if u dont, then u couldnt possibly give out clues because it would have to be really obvious…

A token list would be nice, but…The reason why they are called skill tokens isn’t because you can ‘play a series of songs in order,’ or the like. AAA, or set amount of perfect, sure. I like this token business, it brought me back from my leave of absence! Keep it up, and you’ll have more people coming, which means more advertising money gained, and more donations :3

Regular tokens work wrapped in mysteries. The Skill tokens however should have an open list, because you get those with your skill. That being said, the list will help people test out their skill and prove said skill with the AAA’ing of the song. Not knowing what the song is makes things REALLY tedious.

Okay, to paraphrase what basically everyone else is saying…
Regular tokens are aquired through searching and thinking, and require no physical skill. (Clicking a link is not that strenuous.)
Skill tokens SHOULD be acquired through pure skill, with no real searching and thinking required, to balance the whole system out.
Now, MAYBE, there can be a FEW tokens that require both searching AND skill, but, if created, those should be separated from regular and skill tokens.
To sum up, yes. Release the list.

The skill token is called a skill token for a reason; only the players good enough will be able to get them.
So with this said, having a skills token official list couldn’t hurt anybody. Players who couldn’t get the tokens before aren’t going to get them after there is an official list.
It is just going to make it easier for those of us who CAN unlock the tokens to unlock them, because we won’t need to randomly choose songs to do well on.
Without an official list, it would personally be quite frustrating to search for tokens.

Or maybe you could post a riddle, that when solved it gives you a clue leading the way to a regular token, unlocking not only a new token song but a hint at the secrete identity of a ridiculously hard skill token, that when AAA’d unlocks a secrete profile page, which reveals the name of the one person you must chat with in FFR’s UNIFIED Profile Chat (room #2), a person who is only on from 2:00am and 2:30am (Eastern Daylight Time) Mon-Thur, who will then PM you the coordinates to a safety deposit box containing a single scrap of paper (guarded by rabid monkeys), that has on it the link to the complete list of skill token songs *deep breath* though it’s written in invisible ink and must be translated, because it’s also written in the ancient writing system of the lost Atlanteans, who hate FFR and are DDR purists, and so you must travel to Atlantis to do battle with them DDR style to earn their respect, so that they will then translate it with their special anti-invisible ink pens, finally giving you the link, which brings you to a page saying, “I’m sorry, only subscribers can view this page.

I think skill tokens should definitely have a list. Finding regular tokens provides a good challenge, but trying to figure out skill tokens would prove next to impossible, especially for those who would need to practice a lot to get some of them in the first place.

The whole point of a skill token is to test the skill of an individual who plays ffr, not how well the person abstractly deducts the answers to riddles and various other clues that are given to him/her.
For skill tokens to achieve their conventional objective, they most definitely need to be listed somewhere on the ffr website… preferably not hidden somewhere, but in an easy to access place, such as on the main menu on the homepage.
As a decent, but not close to guru or master ffr player, I believe that the skill tokens should be listed because they are no different than regular tokens otherwise. A regular token forces you to accomplish a goal by solving a riddle or clue. Skill tokens are supposed to test your ffr playing ability, and therefore no riddle or clue should be involved in the process of getting one. It should only involve playing a song and performing somewhere in the range of very decent to totally perfect.
Not having a list for skill tokens would be puerile and not acceptable by many respected ffr players. Also, it would quite frankly be lame.
This is why I believe there should be a list of the ffr skill tokens.

I’d like to know where all of you are getting this idea that “Skill tokens are about how good you are. Not about riddles and whatnot.” Sure the name of the genre implies this but I don’t believe Synth ever said anything about skill tokens not involving your mind or not involving luck for that matter. Yeah i think the FFR staff should make a list of all the FFR Skill Tokens along with what you have to do to what song.
You shouldnt make a list of the songs that you are rewarded with, that would be just stupid. Coming up to meet the standards to get the token is hard enough, adding the fact that you have to find the song to AAA is impossible.
Also as a sidenote, you should release some tokens where you don’t have to AAA a song just to get the token, there should be some tokens where you need to get a 300+ combo or a 1000+ combo to unlock a token, or AA a certain song or FC a Very Challenging song or stuff like that.

I’d like to see a list of the skill tokens. I’d even be OK with the method for how to get them being made public. Knowing how to get a skill token doesn’t necessarily mean that you *will* get it. You still have to do the required action yourself, and not everyone will be able to do so. Knowing what needs to be done can provide an added incentive to improving your game.
