Additionally, this purchase will unlock the mystical Coactive [Over My Shoulder Mix] token (it’s an FMO)! Also included in the album download is the album art from the phyiscal CD and a paragraph explaining the 4-song i.transmit.this series.
So, once again, head over to the subscription page and pick up a copy of this amazing album NOW! It’s only $8.49. And you’ll be helping SGX put food on his table.

Wed morn edit: Mad props to adamaja456, bballa48, bluguerrilla, card man, funmonkey54, norsegod666 for buying the album so far. You should not feel jealous and sad that you didn’t buy it yet and therefore don’t get your name on the front page.

Hey again. I saw someone asking where you can get the CD. Don’t want to steal customers from FFR anything since I appreciate them selling the album here, but you can grab the disc at my little record label http://www.protagonistrecords.net/buy and from CDbaby http://cdbaby.com/cd/sgx4 . The digital download is also available at my record label and lots of other stores like iTunes, Amazon mp3, Rhapsody, etc, though of course you don’t get the support token.

ooooh i love this artist!

And we get 320 KBps not 256!!
Posted at 4:23pm on February 4th, 2009
SGX.
Posted at 5:03pm on February 4th, 2009
320 bitrate is nice, but I don’t think I’d ever pay for anything that’s lost the majority of its quality in the first place. If it were the original sound, then I’d probably do it.
The problem is, if I don’t want a 320 kbps MP3 and want to convert down to VBR to save some space, it’s going to sound terrible because I’ve converted a lossy MP3 into an even lossier MP3.

Lol. I give credit for buying it , helping support FFR, but this is like saying if you dont buy it you dont get your name on the front page, so buy it now
Posted at 5:56pm on February 4th, 2009
I would totally buy this… If i hadn’t already got the album. I might (When i get the credits XD) buy it for someone else though.
Posted at 6:14pm on February 4th, 2009
@Zybanthia: Won’t that only save you like 10% of the file size? P.S. You don’t have to do it in a lossy way: http://wiki.themixingbowl.org/MP3packer
I would argue that _most_ people cannot actually tell the difference between 320 KBps and a lossless format. I have never done a blind test on myself however, so who knows. I guess if you’re got a HiFi system or a really nice pair of headphones and a nice sound card then it’d be more obvious.
A blind test for 320 KBps vs lossless might make for an interesting thread…
Posted at 7:11pm on February 4th, 2009
I’m buying it. My current one is at 178kbps which sucks balls D:
Posted at 7:16pm on February 4th, 2009
K got it. :3
Posted at 9:48pm on February 4th, 2009
Got it, it’s EPIC.
Posted at 10:28pm on February 4th, 2009
: D yay.
And everyone likes 64th rolls, right? the file is ripe with them.
The in-game coactive is only 192kbps : / See if you can notice a difference between that and the one you get.

“And everyone likes 64th rolls, right? the file is ripe with them.”
Yes, they’re just peachy *rolls eyes* XD

blu: Really nice tool there, actually. Never knew something like that existed.
In most cases I admittedly cannot tell the difference, but I like to use various bitrates for various things; 128 kbps for stepfiles, VBR for my iPod, and lossless when just listening on my computer. If I’m going to pay for something, I’d just like the option to make these choices with the minimum quality loss, that’s all.
Also, what encoder was used to make these MP3s? Xing, Fraunhofer, LAME? That’s one thing that determines quality. And as far as audible quality loss goes, it’s easiest to hear artifacts in percussion – symbols often sound watery, and bass drum can sound as if a comb is being run through the sound. But many times there’s no difference.
Posted at 12:08am on February 5th, 2009
I used LAME encoder for the mp3s.
Posted at 1:03am on February 5th, 2009
Well, that’s good; LAME is the best.
Posted at 2:24am on February 5th, 2009
Xander: fyi, Flash can’t handle high bitrate mp3s… for whatever reason. It craps out on most things. Plus, high bitrate mp3s cause the file size to be much larger, causing longer load times. As such, all mp3s used in FFR are converted (by Flash) to 112kbps. I believe the vast majority of the older files (2006 or earlier) are 96 or 80.

Your remix of Lux Aeterna was not bad. I’d call it more of a breakbeat instead of a transient mix. Is there any way we can get the files in FLAC? I’d rather convert them to a different format for portable devices.
Posted at 1:42pm on February 6th, 2009
Nevermind, there FLAC is available. Great site design, by the way. Gray text on black is a lot easier on the eyes than white on black.

hey! i bought it and im not on the front page!! *pouts*

Apologies to folks who previously bought the album from elsewhere and who wanted a support token. Hero of the Grey Area has been out elsewhere for over a year now. FFR only came to me a few weeks ago about selling my album here. AFAIK there isn’t a feasible way to offer a discount if you already have it. It’s also not up to me, but those who run the FFR store.
BTW, my two previous albums Chroma and Synesthetic should be coming to FFR store with support tokens in the future, so watch for those. Those albums have more tracks that are featured in FFR.
Posted at 7:34pm on February 8th, 2009
For the future albums, can we pleeeease get more than one chart per purchase =/
Posted at 6:47pm on February 9th, 2009
how do you send one through a gift?
Posted at 1:00am on February 10th, 2009
OKAY, I’ve noticed a couple people in the same boat here, and if Danny’s memory is keen he could vouch for me. I bought Hero of the Grey Area, i.transmit.this, and Better than Sliced Beats a few months back and had him sign all three and mail them to me. I HAVE hard copies, and my digital copies were sent to me in flac. I don’t need this. I should just get my token. I’ll say this everywhere until I get the stupid thing.
Posted at 1:01am on February 10th, 2009
BTW Danny, I told you I’d be buying the rest of ‘em. Gimmie a week or so to get my tax return.
Posted at 1:07am on February 10th, 2009
*superspam* AND LIKE I SAID IN MY PMs and when I went under contact to get a “special subscriber response” like I supposedly get, even though I have yet to get a response about any OTHER questions or problems, I’ll gladly PAY FFR whatever difference there is if they make a profit on this. If not, I’ve supported SGX very nicely and intend to continue doing so!!!! >:(

I only care about supporting this site the albums are a little treat but this one is well worth the money spent in fact i think iam cheating the author and this site out of money.
