We are moving over to a new 1Gbit line today. As a result, our IP will change. You may notice some downtime until everything propagates. I will keep everyone updated.

*EDIT* – Server is switched. The IP has changed. Some will not be able to reconnect to the site until they restart their computer or their ISP propagates. Spread the word.
*EDIT* – Multiplayer is back up and running strong.

Is the chat down? I noticed there are two people in there, but when I try to go in, it just says “Connecting…”
Also, what’s this about a license being emailed? I don’t see how a license would be needed to have MP working.

meh, i really dont mind much, and stuff. ill just play simfiles(like i have for the past few weeks) ill survive. =P

Afro, multiplayer connects via sockets for realtime data transfer. The backend is a java service that helps route and wire those connections in realtime. That service is a commercial product. The product requires a license. The license is not cheap. That license is tied to the servers IP.

That sucks. I thought you guys figured out a way to handle realtime transfer of information without using a commerical product.
This just makes me feel worse for never actually donating.

Everything is figured out just fine. It just takes some time for all the ISP’s and home computers to propagate everything. Seriously, if you know someone who is having troubles, tell them to reboot.

Do not edit your hosts file.. because if we ever change IP’s again, you are SOL. as far as multiplayer, we are on the default 20 connection license. EXTREMELY limited until we get our unlimited license emailed to us. (should have it by morning)

This the new license for multiplayer was installed this morning at around 2am and is working nicely. Many people are starting to get back into the site but it may be another 24 hours until everyone is able to see it.
