New Genre Added to FFR! Skill Tokens
You begged, you pleaded, you sent candy and wouldn’t stop calling. Yes, we have finally added skill tokens to FFR. Many thanks to all the beta test members (subscribers) who helped test the functionality and put up with me in the Subscriber Beta Test forum over the weekend.
What are skill tokens?
Skill tokens are a completely new class of tokens that all you to unlock new songs by hitting certain accomplishments on existing songs. For instance, lets say that an AAA on Trip to the moon was needed to unlock. If you did indeed AAA it, at the end of the game on the score screen, a token will appear letting you know that you have unlocked a new song. After that, you refresh and like magic, you have the token in your skill token genre.
For the next 1-2 hours Dance2 and Hip-Hop will be reversed because of some work we are doing. They will be fixed shortly.
Did I mention that 2 skill tokens are available right now? We may create an official list but for right now we will let you guys explore and find them.

awesome! but a list would be really helpful, don’t want to look around for ever, so can’t wait for the list, and this is really cool. I don’t want to to become like tokens though where it’s alot of people getting banned for saying where a token is, hope this is a bit more open.

Mind telling us where to find them? There’s a LOT of songs in FFR, and AAA’ing them is a different story. Maybe just reveal the song, but not what to do on it?

Uuuah… The only problem I have with that is some people can’t AAA songs as easy as others… I hope that most of the skill tokems aren’t going to just be AAAing certain songs… that’s just too hard. I can’t even AAA straight to video… That don’t mean I don’t have skill though… so unfair. *pouts…*

Yay. Tokens I will never get. Lag in the game basically eliminates me from getting these tokens. Even if I try harder than usual, AAA’s are elusive due to last minute lag with arrows coming across the spaces thus resulting in Goods Galore. =P

looks like i’m screwed out of several tokens =/. I prefer the FC idea myself. I can’t AAA *ANY* songs yet.
Been playing for over a year, and just don’t know a song well enough to get everything perfect. I FC’ed SH several times, but i just cant get everything perfect. It’s not in me.
In fact, I believe this may be the thing with a LOT of people, synth. Most people can’t AAA all the songs. Not many people can FC all of their songs either, but moreso than AAA.
If you’re going to keep it as a AAA to get the skill tokens, then could you make it to where NOT having them won’t affect our score? I’d hate my rank to go down from skill tokens I can’t get =/

i like the FC idea too, and of course it would be easier if it was FC SH instead of AAA SH, but instead of SH, pick harder songs to FC, so everyone would be happy. Either that or more pissed off because you changed it but in changing it you put the FC to a very hard song to FC, therefore being the exact same difficulty of AAAing SH! Would be easy if ffr’s timing system was decent. It lets you hit them WAY ahead of time and still calls it a perfect but even the slightest bit afterwards gets you a good (and a miss sometimes too).

some people have mentioned how it’s to hard to AAA a song, actully I agree, making it so you have to reaches for the obbesive pro ffr players, I feel like when adding a feature like this you should make it so that many ffr players can achive this type of thing with hard work. ffr is a huge game, and most people who play don’t post, so they won’t have a voice about this type of thing, but remember them when considering what to or not to make it so you have to AAA some guru song, I recommended making it easier for the masses.

By the way, for those who said that SH is an easy song to AAA, keep in mind that difficulties can change from person to person. For me, its a LOT harder than any other difficulty 3 song (only counting those that are onbeat of course, since offbeat crap is even harder). I’d much rather try to AAA a song like Burnout or Libertine than SH.

ok listen people … yes it is harder for some of you to AAA spontaneous hydroxide … but what you all need to understand is that there might be skill tokens that only you can get that even a pro might not be able to do … not every song is on beat … its what makes the song the song … learn the song … learn the on and off key buttons … and get it right … simple as that … so every needs to stop complaining about how ” i cant do this ” or ” you need to change things ” … synthlight and the rest of the ffr team made this site and the stepfiles based on how they wanted it to be … if it aint working for you then dont play … simple

some people have mentioned how it’s to hard to AAA a song, actully I agree, making it so you have to reaches for the obbesive pro ffr players, I feel like when adding a feature like this you should make it so that many ffr players can achive this type of thing with hard work. ffr is a huge game, and most people who play don’t post, so they won’t have a voice about this type of thing, but remember them when considering what to or not to make it so you have to AAA some guru song, I recommended making it easier for the masses.

This is not skill. This is luck. I worked for my full combo on sensorsium through skill. I worked for my full combo on delirium, and my near perfect full combo on brightone (15 greats, nothin else), all through skill. I even have the pics on my profile to prove it. What I’m upset about is the fact that, because of a flaw in the system, I can’t get a token song. The only way to get it is a 1 in a million shot. I’ve been sitting here trying and trying to do this song and AAA it, and I’m going to give up on it soon…

My comp doesn’t lag, but I go on beat as best as I can, and trust me I listen to it VERY closely, and try VERY hard to do it, and I can stay on beat the whole song, but still end up with a couple greats…That is the best I’ve done on the easiest songs. 2 greats…*sigh*

AAA songs I think is ridiciulsoy hard for most people, mabye the small percentage of great players can do it, but for most people it simply won’t happen, I hope future skill tokens are a bit more reasonable then AAA a song, and might be something a regular person with dedication can actually do like the fc idea.

I think this is a bad idea. All these new updates to ffr lately have been good for like ”THE REAL GOOD” players. The majority of the people who can’t fc songs like destiny will have a hard time at this. It’s unfair… Also I hope there will be a list for this so we know how good we have to do to get the song.

dn poeta, i cant FC Destiny but i AAA’d SH…i thought i would never AAA it. took me only 6 tries! Here’s a helpful hint: certain attributes like AAA’s are harder for some people to get, while FC is easier to some other than AAA’s (if tht made sense); If you’re using auto fail, dont. itll make you nervous. if you’re not using auto fail, do. it might scare you enough and teach u, u will eventually AAA it. dont get frustrated

HAHAH!!! This is crazy hard for me.
1st my back key doesn’t work well and its off, so i always get goods. so I got a new keyboard.
2nd when I finaly GOT the new keyboard I have trouble with the songs speed. Its so slow! I can triple A a song like destiny or something fast but then we go to like SH and i’m almost falling asleep and I get bored. HAHA!

i agree with all of you who say getting AAA is hard.i am very good for only playing for lees than a year but to get a perfect on every note and to get every note?thats asking to much for some of the new players or beginning playes.as for other like me who play for fun,we should have like speed skillz or accury skill tokens to get.not AAAthis and AAA that.so far i havent really like the new hidden token and skill token thing.i like it the old way with no finding token stuff.just my opioion if anyone gets mad at me for saying this.

I have to second Dragun’s opinion. Skill tokens are designed so that if you have one, then you are a person to be respected. If everyone has all the skill tokens, then who is actually skillful? I believe this even tho I don’t have the skill token and I’m still working on it. I believe this even tho I get frustrated sometimes, so u ppl should believe it too.

I finally AAA’d SH. It took me about three hours over a period of two day. I hope I never have to repeat a song that many times again. After getting the token I noticed that my accuracy improved a lot so I guess I got a little more than a token from all that repetition.

Not too sure about this, but on Synthlight’s recently played, 9 of them are SH which would make sense because that’s one of the new skill token songs.
One of them is different though.
Switchback {FFR edit} which can be found in Rock.
I have a feeling that AAAing this is either the second skill token, or is going to be the 3rd.
If I was good enough to AAA it myself I would tell you all.. But can I get somebody to check this for me and tell me if it is?
