HERE WE GOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So my good buddy and fellow Admin, Plaguefox, told me about this crazy song his buddy Renard did and how we needed to have it in FFR. Here We Go is an absolutely insane 441bpm speedcore Mario song. It is 13.5 notes/second for 89 seconds. It is, IMO, the 2nd hardest song in FFR (behind Death Piano). It’s like Adventures of Lolo on crack for 3x as long.
Anyway… most of you will never get to play it. It’s also the 2nd hardest token to get in FFR (behind vROFL). You will need to full combo 99% of all public songs in FFR to unlock it (then check your levelrank) [As of right now, only 17 users have access to it, but I'm confident more will work a little harder and reach 99%]. I’d recommend working on that really soon, because there are 3 more FGOs being released for the tournament in the next 2 weeks. The good news is we’re going to hit 600 public songs really soon, which will mean you can get up to 6 non-FCd songs and still have 99%, instead of only 5.
In other news… be on the look out for more purchased songs over the next 3 days, before I go on vacation for 2 weeks.

That is why you practice, think about this Takedown, the first 3 achievement tokens were relatively easy to get, it only makes sense to have at least one hard achievement token.

It is called an “achievement” token, which means you got to “achieve” a certain level of play before getting it.
And anyway, if you can’t get close of 99% FC, you won’t do good on the song it unlocks…

since there really only seem to be 1 user having issues with this specific token, i’ll address him…
Takedown: this token is MEANT to be extremely extremely hard to get, as i even said in the news post. it is not supposed to be accessible by the noobs. that’s why it’s a token song and is “private”, because not everyone can get access to it. maybe a few years from now you’ll unlock it. maybe never. most users won’t ever get to play this song. then again, most users won’t be able to play this song… so it shouldn’t really matter, right?

That’s really shitty. It’s unfair to just flat out say “you probably will never be able to play this song”. You don’t have to be in the top 20 skill-wise to enjoy playing an extremely difficult song. You don’t even need to be able to pass a song in order to enjoy it.

Afro: maybe it’s reverse psychology. i tell you you can’t get it, you try extra hard to get it. but, regardless, that’s the truth. MOST users won’t get to play THIS file. There are plenty of other really hard files they can play… this just isn’t one of them. I’ts like Otaku Oni, it’s a goal that everyone strives for. This will be as well.
Jaja: AFAIK, this version of the song isn’t available anywhere. You should be able to find a short version of the song for free download somewhere.

This is seriously why I stopped really playing at all. I used to play a little whenever a new song was added, but I just stopped completely because I knew I’d never be able to play them all. It’s just stupid.

i really don’t see the issue here. there are over 530 songs you get access to immediately, without even needing an account. then 30-some secret songs, around 20 purchased songs. 580 total public songs now. plus now 34 token songs and 98 skill token songs. that’s over 700 total songs in game. i think it’s acceptable to have some songs that are VERY hard to get. like how lots of flash games now have in-game award/achievement systems, with a small percentage being insanely hard… rewarding those dedicated players who spend a ton of time playing to reach the goal or are exceptionally good from spending a lot of time playing.
so, no. i have absolutely no issue with it, whatsoever. i can understand it being a small downer for some users, who want to have every song… but it still is achievable by everyone, just not feasibly achievable by everyone.

It’s possible to reward devoted players without alienating the base.
Sort of like how you give ingame benefits to subscribers, yet do it without alienating the others. You don’t make songs that are ONLY available to subscribers, but they do get special benefits. The best players deserve their achievements recognized, but it shouldn’t be in a way that limits things out of reach for everyone else.
And just because other flash games take part in a flawed system doesn’t justify it.

This song is just so addicting to listen to, lol. I don’t mind if I ever get it, listening to it is much more better.
Also, but the whole unfair thing, well they DID hint before about a month ago that they were going to release an achievement token that they said only 17 people had already achieved. So you had to expect that the next achievement token was going to be near impossible and very hard to get.
Ah well, unless I mash those guru songs and some masters songs AND get 80k so I can play all those secret songs, I’m not going to get this achievement any time soon, heh. (Only 93.28%)

The 99% includes anything on your levelrank, so no token/skill token songs.
I feel the same way about this token as about [Oni]. At the time only something like 15 people had ever done it; now it’s well over 200. This is just another difficult token IMO; there’s nothing about it that would prevent someone who has a lot of skill and who has played FFR for a long time from getting it. I’m fine with tokens I can’t get and I don’t really see what’s so alienating about it, especially when most users can’t even see their level rank on them.

I think recent token reqs are a bit too hard (I know most of them are tourney related). Having a few very hard tokens is ok, but basically most of s-token/a-token should be ones like 5,000 – 10,000 players can unlock considering the number of members on this site.
And when you release a token like this you could release easier one at the same time (48 sec version with easier req, for example), like subscriber’s songs.
Ideas of token themselves aren’t bad though.

This reply might be a bit late to the guy who posted about m1dy earlier, but considering that most speedcore songs on stepmania are hard, they can add tons of difficulty to FFR itself. Really, all the songs in FFR are pretty boring, and some are just too easy for the expert players. Like, it’s really jarring seeing the same people on the same highscoe list on all the hardest songs (although I know they should be commended for their skills) but still, having blanket permission from m1dy could really put some difficulty into FFR. As of death piano, that’s pretty much the only hard song in FFR in my opinion that’s public.

Other artists that could be recommended are Komprex & Frazzbass. I stepped one of their songs, mondo brutale, but it was released for stepmania, and I don’t really have blanket permission from them either.
My point is that even if speedcore isn’t exactly preferred music for some people, it could add a challenge to FFR. Most of the songs you can mash to full combo easily, while speedcore is fast so the jackhammers can make it harder to mash an FC and to score on. Does anyone know or understand where I’m going with this?

Dude, if you are not good enough to get to a certain level, YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Deal with it. Putting an expectation like that in FFR is no different than putting it in any other game. Yes, this expectation is hard, but at the same time, it’s not impossible.
I also find it ironic that you said you quit because of tokens like this, and then complain about how it’s not fair. Maybe if you hadn’t quit it’s be a lot more “fair”!

well maybe if those people spent a few years ACTUALLY playing this game and honestly trying to get better, you would have a different outlook on the harder tokens.
Just like n00b tokens that 50,000+ users have unlocked, i think its fair to have a few hard tokens that will have less then 50 users unlock it.
if you dont create something to work for and strive for, there really is no point in trying to get better. I look at it as always reaching a goal then setting a new one. top 100 aaas, top 50 in tier points, tier 3 get, top 25 overall rank. once i reach that goal, then i change it to top 50 aaas, top 25 in tier points, tier 3, top 10 overall rank.
then you will always have something to do in FFR
seriously, the select few people need to stop whining about the token and put the time and effort into the game to be able to unlock it in the future
