Can You Believe It? 1,000,000 Members
I still can’t.. I mean, I sit every day working on our games and I still can’t grasp the fact that after almost 4 years, we still have almost 1000 member signups a day. What amazes me even more is that people signup because they want to. They definitely don’t need to signup, but at the same time, they care to be an active participant on the site and want to watch their progress in the game(s). It is almost hard to believe.
This year has brought plenty of change to FFR. Probably the most change in it’s 4 year history. We have completely redesigned the site from the ground up, came out with 3 new games, developed a profile system, numerous new stat features, seen a few people move on, seen a few people move in, brought in some amazing new developer talents (Rickz0rz, Kit, Jason and more!) and just keep moving forward at a rocket like pace. Seriously, nobody will slow us down.
As many of you know, we just recently released our new multiplayer MeTrivia beta over at MeTrivia.com and now that MeTrivia has been beta launched that can only mean one thing.. Yes, more focus on 3rd Style. The original plan back in May of this year was that all projects would move along and once MeTrivia was beta launched, we would stick a few people on MeTrivia and the rest of us would go back to help the others concentrate powers on 3rd style. Expect to start hearing about 3rd style progress again in the near future. Many of the new projects we have been working on have elements developed specifically for 3rd style. I can’t wait to release 3rd style. Sometimes I think I want to see it released more badly than some of you. 
What else is new? I have long believed in this project we call FFR and value more than anything the community and the support FFR receives. There is nothing I enjoy more than creating and managing these games and this community. The last 4 years has shown me that this is what I really want to be doing, developing games for you guys. Earlier this year I made the decision to quit the traditional work of my decade old business and move forward full time on FFR. Yes, meaning that I am putting full faith in FFR’s ability to continue growth and come out with new games with new concepts (SpinItUP!). I am risking nearly everything by doing this. Am I worried? Not a bit.. *see member count and stats!
To show you guys we are serious, we now consider FFR to be it’s own company/entity away from my Synthetic Light Studios. It now stands on it’s own. This changes nothing besides the fact that we are now more serious than ever about making FFR grow in features, games, and it’s community. All the new games and features (like Resonance) are a direct result of our determination. If anything, this shows you that (as you have always known) FFR is not going to go away anytime soon. This just cements us as a fixture on the internet and opens up doors in the future.
There has been plenty of talk over the past week over who is going to be the 1 millionth member. Honestly, I don’t think it matters (shocking!).. I think it matters more that we were able to achieve 999,999 members prior to that 1 million mark. Those are the people that matter. Those are the people who helped build this site into what it is today. As of now, we are officially over 1 million members.. Can you believe it?
With that said, I can’t just let tonights event go unnoticed. Tomorrow we are going to announce our “1 Million Member Spontaneous Contest Celebration Maximus” with a prize that will definitely be worth sticking around for. I am not kidding.. It really will be worth it. This won’t be chump change. This will be the grand prize of spontaneous contests and I assue you that everyone can participate.

Such a great landmark for FFR to reach. It’s developed so fast over the last year. We only hit 500k members in early 05 I think, to get another 500k in a year and a half is amazing. Congrats.

sheesh, 1 million people… we are all in big trouble now. I can’t even remember what the number of members was when I joined (looks) 3.12 years ago. Actually, I never even followed the #members thing at all. Last week I looked and it was like 989,000 or something and was like “wow, a million people…” and here it is.
Nothing’s changed… most of the people in the chat still suck, and the forum goers and chatters are still basically on either end of the dance floor with some slowdance music playing.
However, one thing that HAS always been here, and most likely always will, is community. Synth said it best; there’s nothing like coming to a place where you can see so many people (even if they are on different ends of the dancefloor) coming together and enjoying themselves. Congrats Synth, on such a successful project, and I wish you, and your staff, many more years of fun, enjoyment, and success.
