BPM Changes Around the Corner?
Thanks to Kit- for her conversion coding and Shashakiro for all his testing and persistance, we now have support for BPM changes in FFR. Keep in mind that BPM does not change the scrollrate but is more of a CMOD type of conversion.
Our original converter has lacked this feature for quite some time but now you can expect to see BPM changing songs in the near future.
We also are supporting a full range of noteskins now and Shashakiro has been busy reconverting old songs to fix their noteskins and any other issues they may have.
On a seperate note, we took last night to rewrite nearly the entire script that writes scores to the FFR database. Hopefully this will bring load down a bit. If you notice any problems, let us know.
If you are new and you see the t-vb.php error and or the “not available” song list, just sign out and sign back in. It is a side effect of our changes and will be dealt with this weekend.
Cheers,
Synthlight + sleepless nights on the server

“Sleepless nights on the sever”? Seriously Synthlight, take a break.
Those upcoming BPM changes are nice to hear, but putting aside your
needed rest is something to be more concerned about.

I’ve logged in and logged out multiple time as well as cleared my cache and other private data, but none of the songs are showing up. Daggum.

This will be interesting. I’ll be stepping some songs with bpm changes in the near future.
Posted at 1:22pm on November 26th, 2006
yessss
will this possibly make it lag like a mofo also?
Posted at 2:02pm on November 26th, 2006
Great to know. One of the two things that I don’t like about this compared to DDR is not having BPM changes.
The other is that the arrow brackets don’t flash, which personally helps me a lot with PA. But that would probably make it lag a lot more.

Wow awesome, I was hoping that this would come about and it finally did. Great work guys.

“We also are supporting a full range of noteskins now and Shashakiro has been busy reconverting old songs to fix their noteskins and any other issues they may have.”
Is this talking about fixing other old songs with red-arrow syndrome, or old blue-note songs? If the latter, OMGWTFBBQYESFFRISWIN.
Posted at 2:53pm on November 26th, 2006
I don’t think the older, blue-note songs are going to be changed. But the red arrow syndrome songs are being fixed.
btw I already finished a file with about 200 bpm changes.

hey….the bpm changes…are they in the simfiles…or the game u cant chang the game…thats what makes this place ffr
Posted at 3:33pm on November 26th, 2006
The bpm changes are in the simfiles, but they aren’t going to be visible from FFR. FFR plays at a constant scroll rate.
Posted at 3:46pm on November 26th, 2006
I personally think that most people are going to expect FFR to go to a more of a stepmania thing. This can get annoying cause with synth and ffr staff working on new things and upgrades for ffr, this could create more bugs, and problems. but hey, this will get a lot more fun with bpm changes… i can just see it now.

Don’t change CIA Rave’s noteskins, I think all blue is fine for the song. I’ve gotten so used to it a change would just make me crash.
Posted at 4:57pm on November 26th, 2006
Most of the songs with all blue arrows I have gotten used to. But Party 4 U in Purchased definately needs a noteskin change. Please change that because the arrows color & the backround makes me not be able to see some of the arrows! I think that song’s noteskins should be changed. Thanks, John Hancock.

number 27 is right. it needs new noteskinning.
and i would rather have the rates than bpm, but bpm change is what would give us alot more songs to play.
and more buyable songs would be sweet too.
Posted at 6:13pm on November 26th, 2006
yeah im getting kinda bored with the limited selection of purchased songs.
WANTING MORE MUSIC,

the blue noteskin’d songs will NOT be touched. except Synesthetic… which is being fixed SOLELY because of the ending jump jacks.
the only songs being fixed are the ones with multi-colored noteskins.
also, hopefully we’ll get a song with BPM changes for SotW tomorrow.
PS – Shash, if you read this, I may or may not be home by midnight to do update… will be home by 1 though.

This is amazing!
Posted at 8:40pm on November 26th, 2006
the noteskins should stay the same for party 4 you, its what makes it so challenging.
Posted at 8:42pm on November 26th, 2006
Actually synth, i have had problems with the scoring, i played libertine maybe four days ago, and it said my percent of score against the leaders was infinity. this has happened twice to me, and ideas?
Posted at 8:46pm on November 26th, 2006
for this time… i am agree-ing with MRTL_mrclean17…. whoa.
but yeah thats what gives the whole joy for the song… ive noticed in the background theres someone playing FFR in there lol
Posted at 9:43pm on November 26th, 2006
when were you disagreeeing?
Posted at 10:13pm on November 26th, 2006
BPM changes would be cool but Synth Or whoever why cant i go to FFR Multi Player scores? Its like the page got deleted any suggestions?
Posted at 11:31pm on November 26th, 2006
Hopefully the BPM changes will allow for both slowing down and speeding up of the song. As one of my main annoyances with this is the lack of a method to learn hard parts of songs. If it is only a speed up button I will be greatly dissappointed.
Posted at 3:31am on November 27th, 2006
ps: when will this feature take affect to reson?
and are stops working also or is it just bpm change???
Posted at 4:48pm on November 27th, 2006
HEY!!! i just whent to the sim page and alot of songs at the play now botton says time changes
Posted at 7:21pm on November 27th, 2006

Posted at 8:55pm on November 27th, 2006
