9th Official Tournament — Division 7 name?
Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on August 30th, 2013
Yes, this is still a thing. I may be busy and have other priorities, but this tournament will happen (and hopefully soon).
In the meantime, what do you guys think the D7 players’ division should be — I’m looking for serious suggestions, because I will call them by that name throughout the tournament!
Also – some proof of progress. This will definitely be changed with many more songs soon, as I have all of the July batch to go through now! Thank you all for the files, and hopefully they get used really well.
EDIT – 12:30 AM EST / 8-31-2013

EDIT – 11:00 PM EST / 8-31-2013 – waiting for Hard Songs Batch now…

How about D7?
Name one division why not name them all?

I like Savant but I don’t know if it really meshes well as a rhythm gaming title.

I like EtienneSM’s suggestion. Not only means extremely talented but also has to do with music. What could be better than that?

Green cells ? What do they mean ? AAA or die predictions ?
Posted at 11:48am on August 30th, 2013
green cells most likely are denoting divisional round songs that are locked in

YoshL is partially correct, but yes! It indicates that I have a song that can go for that round based off of the difficulty (this also means a song can be swapped in its place, but a green cell indicates that the round can be filled as far as I have checked).
Posted at 12:01pm on August 30th, 2013
legend seems to fit best in succession

D7 = Vikings
was a good suggestion last year
Posted at 12:19pm on August 30th, 2013
While I welcome the Vikings suggestion, it’s an inside joke that would appear strange to others who aren’t in the know.

Pieces of Cheat.
Posted at 12:32pm on August 30th, 2013
legend because majority rules and i like that title for a division myself
Posted at 12:34pm on August 30th, 2013
” it’s an inside joke that would appear strange to others who aren’t in the know.” I want to be in the know .-.
also, my vote is for stepmen. seems only natural to me if it goes FMO,FGO, then FSO. why not the same way with the divisions?
Posted at 12:40pm on August 30th, 2013
Vikings sounds pretty good, but personally I’d go with Virtuosi. Titles like Elite sounds too patronizing, almost, to lower devisions, and Legends sounds too cheesy. Not all D7 players need to be revolutionary either, so Revolutionary is meh. I’d stick with Virtuosi considering in actual musical instruments, a member of the very highest class is called a virtuoso.
Posted at 12:47pm on August 30th, 2013
Eyepoppers. Because I don’t like looking at the songs they play.
Posted at 12:53pm on August 30th, 2013
I say Elite or Legend. c:

As for a name? How about “championship”
Posted at 1:26pm on August 30th, 2013
i personally dont think championship would work for a division title because it sounds like more of a name u would give to a round in the tournament it makes more sense for that

Not to sound cheesy as shit but why not call the highest division ‘Kaiden’ like they do in pretty much a good portion of other rhythm games?(Like IIDX, LR2, Popn Music,Jubeat, reflec beat etc. etc.)

Posted at 2:25pm on August 30th, 2013
Im putting in a vote for stepmen.
I think the term legend would not fit well because it is a title used on the site for a very specific reason.

once again FFR surprises me with the lack of creativity in their naming process. smh

Posted at 5:06pm on August 30th, 2013
Luminaries isn’t creative enough? D: How about “Omega Nebulas”?
Posted at 5:14pm on August 30th, 2013
I’m more of pointing towards the people who are like “Legendary!” “Legend”. Yeah, mine isn’t creative either, but it still beats Legend.
Posted at 5:31pm on August 30th, 2013
bmah: D7 doesn’t suffice as a skill-level identifier; D6 has Guru, D5 has Master, D4 has Expert, and so forth.
Posted at 5:42pm on August 30th, 2013
Brutal would seem the natural continuation here.

Posted at 6:59pm on August 30th, 2013
Would personally go for D7 only because it’s the highest division and that words can’t really describe how good they are at this game. If not, then Virtuoso would be great.

@TC_Halogen: alrighty. My suggestion then is to put Master as the D7 title, and then replace D5′s title with something else. Reason being is that the term “master” defines one end of the spectrum describing skill; it’s not in the middle as D5 would imply. I also am not for titles like Brutal or Optimum as those are more or less descriptive adjectives as opposed to titles (i.e. nouns).

Since there’s a lot of Brutal/Ridiculous files in D7, how about “Brutes” in order to keep with the fashion of naming divisions after difficulty titles?
Posted at 8:08pm on August 30th, 2013
In all honesty the names can all be moved around a tad.
Novice – a person new to or inexperienced in a field or situation.
Beginner – a person just starting to learn a skill or take part in an activity.
Intermediate – coming between two things in time, place, order, character, etc.. (this makes no sense to me and I can’t find a definition that does.)
Advanced – far on or ahead in development or progress.
Expert – a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.
Master – a skilled practitioner of a particular art or activity. (To go against bmah’s statement, the adjective sounds a lot more pleasing than this one, in this case.)
Guru – a leader in a particular field
I believe Master should be moved like bmah said to D7. You can also add Beginner after Novice (since it’s technically two separate terms) and just bump up everything else to fit. Just my opinion though.

Posted at 9:51pm on August 30th, 2013
D1 beginner
D2 novice
D3 intermediate
d4 advanced
d5 Expert
D6 Guru
D7 Master
although.FGO > FMOs…
D6 master
D7 guru
Posted at 10:02pm on August 30th, 2013
All-Star may be fitting as well if people don’t want to be confused with FGO/FMO ratings. And beginner should be above novice by definition.
Can someone tell me what intermediate means in the case of “difficulty”?

FFR and SM seem to think Amazing/Marvelous is better than Perfect so.. let’s keep with tradition and name D7 “Pretty Good” or something.
