Game Recording & Playback Update

Ok, here is a quick rundown of what is working so far in this newly released feature. All recording is automatic and all playback takes place in your profile.
Recording is now working 100% correct
Playback working 100% correct
Added support for different scroll directions
Added Pause / Play button on playback
Speedmod settings recording but not in use yet
Click arrow bug removed

*EDIT* Game recording is available to everyone this morning and early afternoon while we test system loads etc. Take advantage of it.

omg pause/play is orgasmic
also, speed mod recording = awesome
seems like we’re thissss close to having it count our perfs-goods-avs-missses-boos somewhere on the screen

Synth, will the view be able to choose the speed at which the recording is played, or does it automatically play the speed it was originally played on? ..because I think alot of people would rather watch it at the speed they use, rather than at the player’s speed of choice.

It will be at the speed they played. You should view it as it was played, it’s only fair.

We will be building pages with URLs where you can link your friends to the playback. Possibly even a way for you to email them the link directly from the page. Would that work?

Support for the different scroll directions…wootness. Cause i just checked out my playbacks, and i play right to left…and well theres double. I dunno how to really explain what it’s doin…but it doesn’t look right. Awesome nonetheless!

Definitely something I thought was missing when I started playing this game. Great addition.
Would be cool to view it how you want to view it, but default is how it was played.

Maybe its just my mac and both safari and firefox, but I can’t change it so that the arrows scroll down instead of up.

When watching the playback, it’s hard to tell exactly which arrows I’m getting goods on. Perhaps there could be a button right under Pause/Play called Rewind and a button under that called Fast Forward, where after you click the button you could adjust the speed forward or reverse from .1x to 100x by use of a toggle wheel on the bottom of the screen? This would allow for slow and fast motion in both forward and reverse. Also, perhaps there could be an option where the screen flashes when you hit a non-perfect (goods could flash light green, averages could flash yellow, misses red, and boos orange). Perhaps the flash and slow/fast motion features could be implemented into the FFR the Game options? (slow motion wouldn’t record high scores)
I noticed that after finishing a song, when you click try again it plays the level but not the recording. That should probably either be fixed or allow us to play the song (not for high score) with all of the features available in playback.
Hope you guys consider these, or something like them. If they’re not possible now then they might make for nice 3rd style options.

I don’t think so but you have to consider that at peak we are recording about 8 games a second or more to the replay database.

I’m not really playing any games right now, because I’m kind of partial to my last record. I don’t want to lose it ;_;
