From a Trisection of the Summer Starry Sky comes a Technostorm Hurricaine of strength -Y!

Posted in Song of the Week, Tokens on August 18th, 200735 Comments »

So, I lost track of time yesterday and forgot to add a new user easy skill token. To make up for that, I’ve added two today. Summer Starry Sky is a very ambient song by TAM, that nearly reminds me of elevator music or hold music on a phone. Very soothing. Stepfile is by jimerax and is a 2. To unlock, Pass Trip to the Moon (Dance) with 80+ Perfects.

Technostorm Hurricaine is our 2nd new user easy skill token of the day. It is a techno song by RaustBlackDragon. No surprise at all that our own resident dragon, SulferDragon, quickly jumped on the opportunity to make this chart. It’s a low 4, IMO. To unlock, get a 250+ combo on RainDrops (Dance).

Public SotW is also on the easier side. Trisection is a Hard Rock remix of some video game song (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this) by Hiroshi Sakimoto. The remix is by Glome. The stepfile is by hi19hi19 and is a 7/12. Many of you will say that this file should be harder… but don’t fear! We do have a v2 in the works that will be much harder. You can find this song in Arcade (yes, I know, I flip flop on this all the time, with the Touhou remix songs in Rock, but I know this is an Arcade remix BEFORE adding it, as opposed to after). If you have enjoyed some of our other recent VG Rock songs, such as The Brain of the Moon or The Dreams of Scarlet, you’ll greatly enjoy Trisection as well.

Subscriber SotW is also up in Funk for testing.

Enjoy,

Whole Bunch of Small Stuff – Profile Chat Update, SotW, New Rock songs, Easy ST.

First off, check out the new profile chat! Yea! This is working off of the same technology as the embedded player chats (Yes, all the myspace embedded players have their own chats!). So, check it out. It’s really swanky and hot looking and awesome. Not to mention, it’ll be much easier for us to moderate!

Yesterday I released the 3rd and 4th song by LoveHateHero into Rock, which had previously been exclusive to their embedded player. They’re upper left of Rock. I have since moved the other rock songs by LoveHateHero and Making April to their appropriate spots throughout the genre. So, enjoy the songs and check out their awesome sites.

Today’s Public SotW is State of Emergency by SynthWulf. I’m not really sure how this happened, but apparently this song became public 1 week ago as opposed to today, and I never noticed. Oh well. Many of you may know this song from Spin It Up. It’s 190bpm and pretty fast paced. It has a bunch of 4-frame jacks in it, so watch out! Difficulty is a 10, because of the 4-framers. Stepfile is by Silver_Brian. You can find it on Page 4 of Misc.

Today’s subscriber SotW is available on Page 2 of Funk. It is Never Look Back by DJ SBX (SymBiotiX). Interesting coincednece that I just spoke with SBX yesterday about getting more of his stuff in game. I do what I can to please the musicians; without them, there wouldn’t be an FFR. Will have a full write up on the song in 3 weeks when it’s public.

Finally… today’s easy Skill Token! 5.1.1. (AG Supercool Mix) is, in fact, a supercool mix of the song 5.1.1. by DJ Nagureo remixed by Aerogroove. The stepfile is a cut of the full song, and is either a hard 2 or an easy 3. This file is MixMasterLar’s 1st file to get into the game, after lots and lots of failed submissions and re-submits. He proves the power of dedication, in that if you work hard and keep at it, you can get a file into the game. To unlock, Pass Dance 2 This (Dance1) with 20 or less boos.

Hope that wasn’t too much information for all of you…

3rd Post of the Day! LoveHateHero on FFR!!! Valencia on FFR!!!

Posted in Simfiles, Song of the Week on August 5th, 200735 Comments »

You now should have access to both version of Red Dress by LoveHateHero. Amity and Goodbye, My Love will be available later this week. I shouldn’t even have to tell you about these files at all… since you’ve all already played them on LHH’s embedded player on their myspace, right?? Regardless, the files are by MeaCulpa and Talisman, respectively. You can find them at the top of Rock page 1.

The Space Between is a pretty sweet Alternative song that talks about my home town, Philly. The band is Valencia, which, amazingly, is from Philly as well. And their myspace page (which may have an embedded player soon too) can be viewed here. Stepfile is by bluguerrilla, his 1st on FFR. Difficulty is rated a high Difficult because of a few small 16th bursts at 170. Mostly 8ths with some jumps. I guess it could be a low 8, but I’ll leave that for debate in the forums. You can find the song on page 2 of Rock, 2nd row. Check out Valencia, signed to I Surrender Records, they’re a real cool band and big supporter of FFR.

See you guys with another easy skill token tomorrow.

2 Public SotWs & 3 Subscriber SotWs

Posted in Song of the Week on August 5th, 200741 Comments »

This week’s 2 public songs of the week are definitely something to enjoy. Szamar Madar is a song that, even if the file is too difficult, you need to listen to anyway. It’s that amazing. The song is by the Venetian Snares. It’s a breakcore song, but has such soothing melodies in the background. Such a cool song. AND… the stepfile is pretty darn good too. We’ve had multiple comments of “This is my favorite file ever!” and “This is the best song on FFR!”… so much so, that I believe Kit- is currently sitting in the corner blushing. The file is a 10, Very Challenging… but you’re going to want to try it. As such, I’ve put it in the upper left hand corner of Misc, so as not to bury it. It’ll be there for at least a week before moving towards the back of Misc.

The other SotW is Paranoia -Darkness Mix-, a remix off of the well known Paranoia songs on DDR. Song is by one of the two main DDR Remixers that I know, Sanxion7 (DM Ashura being the other). Solid file, overall not that difficult compared to the Paranoia songs in general. Rated a 6, Tricky. You guys will definitely like it though… approved for children of ALL ages. Stepfile is by stargroup100. You can find it near the end of Dance.

Quick blurb for the subscriber songs… all located in funk. Mute City Remix, a song by KgZ and stepped as a collab between SulferDragon and Brilliant Dynamite Neon, will be a secret song at 45,000 credits. Mocha Ocean is a relaxing yamajet song stepped by MeaCulpa to go along with Mute City. Today’s song is bbblow, a cool Onoken song stepped by Rebirth. Random factoid: bbblow is the first song on FFR to feature a 64th stream (at a whopping 40bpm). No worries to the artists, full paragraphs will be out in 3 weeks when these songs go public.

Expect more news from me later today… stay tuned!

JULY JULY JULY FOURTH!!! JULY JULY JULY FOURTH!!!

Posted in Song of the Week on July 4th, 200744 Comments »

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I feel slightly hyper this morning. That could be for 2 reasons. 1. It’s july 4th… but that probably isn’t it. 2. Smiley songs just make me HYPER & Happy.

So, after over 6 months sitting in the queue, July has finally been released. I just HAD to wait to release it today. Especially since I didn’t wait until Summer to release Summer -Speedy Mix-. As mentioned, it’s by Smiley, one of Kyle Ward’s aliases. You can currently find it in the upper left hand corner of Dance 2, although it may later get moved to the end of Dance. All depends on where the final difficulty discussions place it. I rated it an 8. Half of the 8s are in Dance, the other half are in Dance2. Only time will tell.

Big thanks to hi19hi19 for being so patient with me, but I guess it helps that he has 20+ other files going into the game every other week.

Anyway… you guys now get all three of your files today EARLY! No more complaining about having to wait until 9pm to get your craving of token for the day. Until tomorrow, that is. And have fun unlocking Zephon. :)

THIS…. IS….. F. F. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – 300th FFR Song

With good reason too. Halt the presses, because this is a special public release! A break from the challenges of skill token month. To give you…. the GREATEST song of all time (well, 2nd. Next to TMWT.)

Created way back before I was even a member of this site…. sitting away in the back of NestleKwik’s hard drive, gathering dust…. was the song that made FFR famous. Immortalized for history, by the one… the only… Excluded. The song is so powerful, it’s only name is FFR.

For such a glorious song, we needed to have a glorious way to unveil it. We considered waiting all the way until November, for the site’s 5 year anniversary. BUT THAT WAS TOO LONG! We had to give the people what they wanted. So, after weeks of torturous thinking, it finally dawned on me. We would release this masterpiece as Flash Flash Revolution’s 300th song. At 3:00pm Central. On July THIRD. An alignment of the threes, possibly unlocking the triforce or the triumvirate. I only hope that we know what we’re doing.

My words can not give this song or file justice, so I will let all of you judge for yourselves. It can be found in the upper left hand corner of Misc. The file is by jimerax, and is the greatest chart ever released upon the public. I have heard rumors of better files by the great masters themselves…. but they were so powerful, they knew they could not be placed upon the simfile database, for fear of what might happen.

Without further ado…. go play!

SOTW News Update (First week of June) – Music by Cranky and Banzai

Posted in Song of the Week on June 3rd, 200758 Comments »

Friday’s song is J219 (Ura-Rokkou Mix), a cool sounding eurobeat/rave song by Cranky. Cyanite stepped this file, and he stepped it with the correct difficulty and everything. It’s a 4/6 in difficulty (Very Difficult) It has some jumpstream, some 24th bursts, 24th gallops and a lot of other stuff. The music won’t keep you bored when playing this, and the simfile shouldn’t either.

Today’s song is another well known song from the game “In The Groove”. It’s Zodiac, one of two songs made by Banzai that appear on the first In The Groove game. It’s another nice simfile created by dore. It’s easy for the most part. Slow 16th gallops and stream. The only hard part of the file is a small 32nd stream in the middle. That’s why we rate it a 3/6 (Tricky)

Enjoy these two songs

SOTW – 4th Week of May

Posted in Song of the Week on May 27th, 200738 Comments »

Friday’s song is one stepped by Jimerax and is entitled Expedite. The artist is xTrance, I don’t know anything else about that. The simfile is rated Tricky (3/6), so it’s fairly easy to score well on. The first ~220 arrows of the simfile shouldn’t be a problem at all but once you pass 220 combo you’ll run into the real difficulty of the file. It’s got a lot of 16th action near the end but it’s not that fast of a bpm.

Today’s song is another one of my simfiles, but this one is different than all of my others. This one is actually easy!!! MY GOD REBIRTH MADE AN EASY SIMFILE! I realize I’ve made a TON of simfiles rated Very Difficult and higher, and absolutely zero that are easier than Difficult. It’s time to change that, I’ll start making some easy simfiles along with my more difficult ones. I’ll start with Lesson. It’s an easy and gentle piano song made by Kil. A good fraction of the file is just a bunch of 4th jumps that are spread throughout the file, but it has quite a few little 12th note streams to make it more fun. This one is rated Standard (2.5)

Over the last few weeks we’ve mainly been adding harder songs to the game. Giving the experts more fun but leaving the newbies to sit crying and waiting for easier simfiles to play. Well, starting now we’ll be releasing some easier simfiles for a couple weeks to make up for this. So don’t expect a huge challenge out of the SOTWs for the next couple weeks.

Have fun,

Rebirth
