Finally, You Can Play Your Simfiles Online

Today we are releasing a major Update to the FFR Sim File Database which is entitled “FFR Resonance”.
This update provides the combination of the FFR Simfile Database and FFR Resonance as a simulator.
FFR Resonance is a completely rewritten (from the ground up) music parsing engine that combines the previous R2 interface slapped on top of it for skinning purposes. What can Resonance do? Below is your answer:
Allow you to preview uploaded simfiles by actually playing them
Play any difficulty level Beginner through Challenge within a simfile
Record high scores for each difficulty level of each simfile
Use URL parameters to show your own username group of songs within FFR Resonance
URL parameters to adjust speed mod on load
Preview the Mp3 in the simfile details page
Preview the Banner in the simfile details page
Much much more in the works

So.. What you could do is author a simfile, upload it, then share the “play now” link with your friends to let them play that level online. Scores are seperate for each difficulty level within the stepfile in order to make the high score list fair. Alternately you can upload your simfiles, go half way around the world, log in at an internet cafe and tell Resonance to load your simfiles into a group within FFR Resonance so that you can play all your songs as if they were local.
Today’s version is a VERY early beta and as cool as it is, it has it’s drawbacks. There are certain situations where a file won’t convert. These problems will fade away as the conversion engine and FFR Resonance become more robust in the near future. If you want to ensure that your file can convert, simply make sure it has an .sm file atleast an MP3 and no BPM changes. Our .DWI conversion engine is nearly complete as well as our BPM/Stop support within Resonance.
The FFR Resonance engine is truly a mixture of Flash, scripts, duct tape and determination. We have had many sleepless nights testing and re-writing and re-writing and pulling our hair out. I think you guys will see the value in what we think is most likely the world’s most advanced simfile preview utility.
You can see converted and available files by visiting the Simfile Database. You can also check out the links below. Make sure you look at the URL string for hints on how to alter parameters inside of resonance.

Wow, so I don’t get it completely i don’t think.
From how I read it….you’re saying you can play uploaded simfiles in FFR? I’m probably way off here I read it again and see if I missed something…

It’s a completely new engine. It has nothing to do with R2 besides the skin.. Speed mods are available in the URL of the level you load. Look for Speed1=3. 3 = 1x, 6 = 2x. etc..etc.

Jimerax, The scroll speed is fast because the person who uploaded the file made it that way, it’s not like that for all songs.

it wont let me play any of my songs because it says there\’s BPM changes in them, but most of them have absolutely no BPM changes. What\’s going on there?
*added by Synthlight. Show me a file that is falsely showing bpm changes / stops. All of them that are flagged have time changes*

Haha, I’ve a feeling Synth is going to have to rearrange the simfiles due to appease the audience. Like ape0′s claim. To be able to put up a simfile and get others to play it just like that would probably attract alot of rediscovered attention. Along with how theres going to highscores (probably ranks too?) people will play the sims alot to compete.
Good on ya, Synth and all the FFR staff. Everyone should mash the banners to support this site and your efforts towards it.

argo15, the uploaded simfile must have all the difficulties created in order for you to play them. Everything depends on the simfile artist.

I love the new simfile features, but whats the deal with the DL counter? It keeps sayin that everybody only has 1 download. Seeing as I have just started making sims, this is a problem, because Id like to know if people are enjoying what Ive made and if should make more files. Is this some sort of error or something? If it is, let me know.
