UP-dates, get it?

Greetings, FFR Community! We hope you’ve all had a great summer. Make sure to check out yesterday’s What’s Happenin’ post to get a snapshot of what’s happening on FFR this week! We’re back this month with another installment of exciting announcements and shiny new toys! Post a comment and let us know what you think. :)

What’s New?
———————
The Skill Rating formula has received a massive update! The scope of Skill Rating has been expanded from your top four scores, to an exponentially weighted average of your top fifteen scores. Additionally, the formula can now evaluate scores well beyond the previous limitation of 28 goods – and in some cases – over 1000 goods. Visit the formula discussion thread to learn more about our most accurate ranking algorithm yet, and look at some cool graphs.

The Global Leaderboards reveal an interesting new stat: Levels. Levels are simply your Skill Rating divided by 100. Your personal best score matters the most (24.04% of your total XP), and your fifteenth best score matters the least (0.17% of your total XP). We hope this change provides a more meaningful way of understanding your skill and goal setting. To discuss this update, please visit s1rnight’s “exp bar” suggestion thread.

Halved Noteskin is a new visual modifier on the R^3 engine. Using this mod, coloured arrows appear as half their note value, making especially colourful or dense stepfiles simpler to read. This visual modifier also doubles as a cure to blue note syndrome on Legacy files by turning every blue arrow red.

The FFR FAQ page has been moved to the FFR Wiki. This change will allow its contents to be easily edited and improved by anyone. Everyone is welcome (and encouraged) to contribute to the FAQ page!

“Token Whore”, “Here We Go”, “Quickdraw”, “PianoCore”, and “The Games We Played (Full Edition)” token unlocks have been added as new recent achievements. Duplicate achievements displaying on the recent achievements sidebar have been fixed.

Any rated replay scores mistakenly recovered have now been removed from the leaderboards. The ability to delete replays has been re-enabled.

  3. The ability to delete replays has been re-enabled.
    Fucking thank you.

  4. standalone stopped working??? or is it just me

  5. This is huge, though now I jumped 3 ranks but idgaf; the progress is more important than a number.

  6. @AOD_ELEMENT: Thanks for your bug report! The standalone is not loading on Flash Player 9 and older. I’ll get arcnmx on this as soon as possible.

  7. This update is amazing.
This front page post is amazing.
Congrats, you guys. You AAAA’d FFR!

  8. FP9 bug doesnt make for a happy squid :<
As long as its being worked on tho :&

  10. Awesome when stuff is actually happenin’

  11. white arrow power

  12. So when was the “TC_Halogen” language added to R^3?…
Literally spat water all over my new laptop. It’s ok, but holy crap did it make me laugh. and yes, my Jimmies WERE rustled.

  13. That TC_Halogen thing has been there a while

  14. Can’t wait until halved notes are released.

  15. Halved notes are released, they’re under game visual modifiers, they aren’t a noteskin.

Can confirm Fractured Sunshine looks a lot better when using Halved notes.

  16. Yeah, I’ve got the mod all up and running now. Thank arc for the addition. :)

  17. same here, on all fp

  18. Are you certain? It is working fine here and on numerous PCs.

  19. Have you tried clearing your cache ?

  20. Is FP9 still not working?

  21. very nice update really like it

  22. your new skill algorithm bumped me up from d4 to d5. i’m not even remotely close to d5 (best sdg 66, ignoring nanairopanda v2 whose rating is a joke) but i’m not complaining. yay for me

  23. AAAAAAAAH DARN IT I saw “Halved noteskin” and was expecting smaller arrows. Can there please be some kind of %mini mod where you can adjust the size of the arrows (smaller = longer playfield = easier reading with a faster scroll speed that doesn’t require insane reaction speed) please please please PLEASE! :D

In other news, awesome updates this makes me happy good job peeps.

  24. lol me too
