NEW Skill-Based Ranking System & Leaderboards
Greetings, FFR Community! We are excited to announce some big changes coming to the site this month. Please visit this thread to leave us your feedback and suggestions!
Ranking System Changes
Skill Rating is a new skill-based ranking system that assigns a rating to each player based on their performance on public songs. With the introduction of this new ranking system, we aim to accurately reflect the actual skill of a player after only 250 games played, and 50 unique songs passed.
Leaderboard Changes
The new Global Leaderboards feature the Skill Rating ranking system, as well as an overhaul of the classic Average Rank, Grandtotal, and Tier Points leaderboards. Players can be ranked across all leaderboards by clicking the country flags. Players of all skill and incompetency are placed into skill brackets ranging from “Novice” to “Legendary” determined by their rating.
Site-Wide Rules Changes
In order to maintain the integrity of the leaderboards, players can be reported by searching their username on the leaderboards and clicking the exclamation mark next to their name. We encourage everyone to report their alternate accounts to ensure a more accurate ranking for everyone. Verified alternate accounts will be removed from the leaderboards, but they can still view their ranks. However, users caught polluting the leaderboards with alternate accounts or abusing the report tool will not be tolerated.
Project Credits
With this update, I would like to announce Trumpet63 as the newest member of the development team! His original “Zenith Score” analysis metric violently kickstarted this project, and his continued efforts helping rework countless iterations of the skill rating formula was truly invaluable. Silvuh’s spreadsheet management and feedback during the development of “Zenith Score” sparked several innovative ideas and possibilities for the future of the rating system. s1rnight’s “GOAT Tracker” was a huge inspiration for this project, and her leaderboard logic formed the foundations of this project.
And finally, thank you very much to the following volunteers for collaborating on the “Zenith Score” survey project during the 10th Official Tournament: Callipygian, LethalMutiny, noname219, PhantomPuppy, and Tim Allen.
