9th Official Tournament — Division 7 name?

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution on August 30th, 2013

Yes, this is still a thing. I may be busy and have other priorities, but this tournament will happen (and hopefully soon).

In the meantime, what do you guys think the D7 players’ division should be — I’m looking for serious suggestions, because I will call them by that name throughout the tournament!

- TC_Halogen

Also – some proof of progress. This will definitely be changed with many more songs soon, as I have all of the July batch to go through now! Thank you all for the files, and hopefully they get used really well. :)

  1. The Acended? Just a thought. Gotaa be something awesome and respected regardless of what you guys choose.

  2. “The few, the proud, the D7″

  3. How about D7?

Name one division why not name them all?

  4. Stepmen of course.

  5. Vikings

  6. guruer

  7. Virtuoso?

  8. Elite, legend, revolutionary.

  9. Division X.

  10. I like Savant but I don’t know if it really meshes well as a rhythm gaming title.

  11. …and other negative connotations associated with that title

  12. Sheepfuckers.

  13. Legend

  14. Time Lords :p

    Nah, how about Legendary?

  15. I like EtienneSM’s suggestion. Not only means extremely talented but also has to do with music. What could be better than that?

  16. Legend.

  17. Fucking HYPE!
sorry don’t got any name suggestions.

  18. nerds

  19. Green cells ? What do they mean ? AAA or die predictions ?

  20. green cells most likely are denoting divisional round songs that are locked in

  21. samurai7694s

  22. YoshL is partially correct, but yes! It indicates that I have a song that can go for that round based off of the difficulty (this also means a song can be swapped in its place, but a green cell indicates that the round can be filled as far as I have checked).

  23. legend seems to fit best in succession

  24. D7 = Vikings
was a good suggestion last year

  25. While I welcome the Vikings suggestion, it’s an inside joke that would appear strange to others who aren’t in the know.

  26. Pieces of Cheat.

  27. legend because majority rules and i like that title for a division myself

  28. ” it’s an inside joke that would appear strange to others who aren’t in the know.” I want to be in the know .-.
also, my vote is for stepmen. seems only natural to me if it goes FMO,FGO, then FSO. why not the same way with the divisions?

  29. Vikings sounds pretty good, but personally I’d go with Virtuosi. Titles like Elite sounds too patronizing, almost, to lower devisions, and Legends sounds too cheesy. Not all D7 players need to be revolutionary either, so Revolutionary is meh. I’d stick with Virtuosi considering in actual musical instruments, a member of the very highest class is called a virtuoso.

  30. Eyepoppers. Because I don’t like looking at the songs they play.

  31. I say Elite or Legend. c:

  32. This suggestion is kind of out there, but I suggest the “Luminaries”. ^.^

  33. HYPE
As for a name? How about “championship”

  34. i personally dont think championship would work for a division title because it sounds like more of a name u would give to a round in the tournament it makes more sense for that

  35. Autobots

  36. nerds

  37. Grandmaster ?

  38. Ds7evin

  39. Celestials

  40. just stick proficient between intermediate and advanced

    Novice
    Intermediate
    Proficient
    Advanced
    Expert
    Master
    Guru

  41. Not to sound cheesy as shit but why not call the highest division ‘Kaiden’ like they do in pretty much a good portion of other rhythm games?(Like IIDX, LR2, Popn Music,Jubeat, reflec beat etc. etc.)

  42. because we are not japanese

  43. I like “Stepmen”

  44. Im putting in a vote for stepmen.
I think the term legend would not fit well because it is a title used on the site for a very specific reason.

  45. THE SPARTANS!

  46. elitists

  47. there should be a thread for this the name brought up with the most votes gets used as the D7 title

  48. why a thread? It’s not like it’s hard to embed a poll on the front page. zzzz

  49. Carpel tunnel= D7?
    LOL.

  50. Premier

  51. Legends

  52. who voted down nerds

  53. d4 n00 bs

  54. Mfw I thought no one would post legend but like 5 comments pop up…..Premier is good as well….uhh, god-tier?

  55. Seraph, perhaps?
    Or maybe Alpha or Omega?

  56. omega

  57. Fjords

  58. honestly, most of the names i am seeing here (i.e. legends, elite, omega, etc.) are trying way too hard. what’s wrong with something like premier?

  59. Tryhards

  60. I’d swap Expert for Veteran and add Legend for D7, it would flow more logically with forum titles.

  61. D7

  62. Stepmen.

  63. once again FFR surprises me with the lack of creativity in their naming process. smh

  64. Viking

  65. Luminaries isn’t creative enough? D: How about “Omega Nebulas”?

  66. I’m more of pointing towards the people who are like “Legendary!” “Legend”. Yeah, mine isn’t creative either, but it still beats Legend.

  67. bmah: D7 doesn’t suffice as a skill-level identifier; D6 has Guru, D5 has Master, D4 has Expert, and so forth.

  68. Brutal would seem the natural continuation here.

  69. Brute, Legend, Professional/Pro…

  70. i didn’t know the other divisions had names!

  71. Twerkteam

  72. Bad Boyz

  73. Legally Blonde

  74. Actually, +1 Brutal

  75. Would personally go for D7 only because it’s the highest division and that words can’t really describe how good they are at this game. If not, then Virtuoso would be great.

  76. A list of words related to the word “best”.

    Preeminent
    Ultimate
    Dominant
    Distinguished
    Prime
    Optimum
    Supreme
    Foremost

Skipped some of the ones already stated.

  77. ps sheepfuckers sounds really good too

  78. actually, ultimate is alright

  79. Asians

  80. @TC_Halogen: alrighty. My suggestion then is to put Master as the D7 title, and then replace D5′s title with something else. Reason being is that the term “master” defines one end of the spectrum describing skill; it’s not in the middle as D5 would imply. I also am not for titles like Brutal or Optimum as those are more or less descriptive adjectives as opposed to titles (i.e. nouns).

  81. Nerds

  82. Since there’s a lot of Brutal/Ridiculous files in D7, how about “Brutes” in order to keep with the fashion of naming divisions after difficulty titles?

  83. In all honesty the names can all be moved around a tad.

Novice – a person new to or inexperienced in a field or situation.

Beginner – a person just starting to learn a skill or take part in an activity.

Intermediate – coming between two things in time, place, order, character, etc.. (this makes no sense to me and I can’t find a definition that does.)

Advanced – far on or ahead in development or progress.

Expert – a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area.

Master – a skilled practitioner of a particular art or activity. (To go against bmah’s statement, the adjective sounds a lot more pleasing than this one, in this case.)

Guru – a leader in a particular field

I believe Master should be moved like bmah said to D7. You can also add Beginner after Novice (since it’s technically two separate terms) and just bump up everything else to fit. Just my opinion though.

  84. Grandmaster

  85. i heard stepmen? i like…but what about “gods” XD

  86. Sonic 06

  87. Call D2 beginner. Move the rest up one.

  88. Didn’t realize Oni just said that. I vote for his idea.

  89. D1 beginner
    D2 novice
    D3 intermediate
    d4 advanced
    d5 Expert
    D6 Guru
    D7 Master

    although.FGO > FMOs…
    D6 master
    D7 guru

  90. All-Star may be fitting as well if people don’t want to be confused with FGO/FMO ratings. And beginner should be above novice by definition.

Can someone tell me what intermediate means in the case of “difficulty”?

  91. Updated front page post with tournament placement progress.

  92. BRUTALITARIAN or BRONY

  93. FFR and SM seem to think Amazing/Marvelous is better than Perfect so.. let’s keep with tradition and name D7 “Pretty Good” or something.

  94. Stepmen would be good

  95. Ascended (above mortals)

  96. what’s the problem w/ just referring to d1-7? why we need special names?

  97. its the modern world things need labels

  98. A la Grand Steppe

  99. Grande*

  100. bedlamites (look it up)

  101. or sequential exterminators (longer words for serial killers)

  102. bedlamite= an archaic term for a lunatic= EPIC!

  103. Champion

  104. Legends-FLO=For Legends Only

  105. FLO – For Legends Only.

  106. Perhaps Sage or Mythos?

  107. I’m particularly fond of weeaboo.

  108. Oni Tier

  109. (^^)

  110. Maestro

  111. Dossar7

  112. But for real, I think Legend would be perfect.

  113. Grandmasters

  114. ^†^Brutalist^†^ “FBO” For-Brutalist-Only

  115. I said it last time, and I’ll say it again – Icy-doss

  116. piece of nerd

  117. Keymaster
    Keysmasher
    Master Smasher
    Board Master Smasher Dude
    Elite… the Elite Seven
    Overlord
    Arrow Legend
Any of the titles from Thirdstyle…
    Aficionado
    Flash Master
    Grandmaster Flash
    Flashtacular Board Smasher
    Kool-Aid

  118. Some ideas:

    Sage
    Godlike
    Inhuman
    Ace
    Champion
    Commander
    Lord
    Captain
    Chief
    Star
    Super Star
    All-Star
    Ultimate

If we go by jimerax’s tiers from the old days, God is what was above Guru: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/vbz/showthread.php?t=64820

  119. Why has nobody said Gods yet? I consider anyone better than Guru a StepmaniGod

  120. Demigod.

  121. Maggieblasters

  122. BECAUSE brandon, most of us are atheist lel

  123. Winnipeg

  124. Jedi

  125. I agree with nintendoaddict. Oni or oni-tier does sound kind of cool

  126. I’d say stepmen as a tribute to the previous system

  127. staiain should be D7 for sure
