Naw it's fine I have some time to kill. I'm not sure you'll like any of it but seeing as how you gave me stuff I'll be nice and give you stuff back.

To Shaionei: If they did it in an organized manner, then I guess. And plus, emo isn't monkeys smacking sticks.

Thanks TRD. What kind of stuff are you upping?

ShAiOnEi - Stop with the flaming, if you've nothing constructive to say to what was essentially a decent original post then **** off.

Also - I'll make a list of it once it's uploaded.

A world without criticism how perfect, most unlikely. Give me some reasons how you're posts are more constructive towards mine and maybe I will **** off but until then you're in the same boat I am explaining reasons why you don't like the music.

                Ever heard of constructive criticism?

                There's a difference between:
                Emo suck go suck cock.

                and:
I don't like emo music because *insert reason*.

To SnS, screamo is actually a genre of music. It has scream in the title, but that doesn't just refer to the style of vocals they use.

Re: A n00bies guide to emo and screamo music

Wanna make this clear first: I'm not flaming before you read my acual post:

Emo is a stereotype created by the "Popular" kids to classify the "Outcasts" of their schools (Or area in which they live.) It's a dang stereotype, not a music genre. Just because you wear black, listen to metal or metal, thrash, etc, shouldn't mean there's a new "Genre". it's still rock, metal or thrash. Not Emo. Screamo is understandable because there are just bands that do nothing but scream like someone's dead.

Edit: After just reading the first few words on that site it says it's a fashion statement. (Which is somewhat agreeable.)
Edit2: Reading farther in "Post-Emo Indie rock" Indie is a style of music, a good one at that.

My bad I have anger problems ya know, don't take me too seriously. I'd rather say it with more intensity than have a 4 paragraph argument on an emo/screamo thread. I've become very lazy recently but if you wish me to argue constructively I can try and gather my intellectual side. I doubt you wanted this thread to turn into an argument anyway so I'll try to leave it at that.

The term emo was created in '84, long before it became a stereotype. I think the stereotype is stupid, because most of the kids that originally listened to emo music basically just looked like nerds.

P.S. If any of you guys haven't checked out the bands on the list, don't post your opinions.

                          Estimated time left:
                          01:05:36 (8.54 MB of 156.01 MB)

                          Ok so the song list:

                          1. Fish - Cliche (7.01)

Essentially a love song but not in the simple pop sense. Really done well though and is still currently my song for Krissy.

                          2. Godspeed You! Black Emperor (23.18)

Instrumental band who are pretty much my definition of instruments sometimes having more emotion than singing. This song is one of my favourites by them.

                          3. Kevin Gilbert - Staring Into Nothing (5.52)

May not make complete lyrical sense due to it being part of a concept album. Still, I'm sure you can see where I see emotion perhaps. The album is a mixture of stuff, mainly heavy rock and calmer rock.

                          4. No-Man - All Sweet Things (6.47)

From their newest album that came out this year. Probably my favourite album by them. Also the most emotional. Every single song has as much emotion as this one (which is the first song on the album). This is probably the one I would say that has the most emotion out of any song I'm uploading so check this out first or something if you want.

                          5. Pain Of Salvation - King Of Loss (9.47)

I would have probably chosen another song if I could have found the album but ahwell, no big deal. Daniel Gildenlow has one of the most expressive singing voices in my opinion.

                          6. Stream Of Passion - Haunted (4.31)

This is my definition of "ear sex". One of my favourite female vocalists. The album this is from is more "goth" in style but still good.

                          7. The Tangent - A Place In The Queue (25.15)

Ya, long. Also happens to be one of my favourite songs of all time. The Tangent's main guy is one of the smartest lyricists that I know. This song is generally about his dislike of the current British Government. How they take away your rights etc. Honestly, read the lyrics to this song.

                          8. Wastefall - Another Empty Haven (5.55)

                          9. Wolverine - This Cold Heart Of Mine (7.52)

Added in two metal songs at the end. Both are not the best songs on their respective albums but both are awesome metal songs that also can show emotions.

So ya, that'll be what you can get.

Sounds cool man, thanks. I see you have Opeth in your sig and I've been wanting to get one of their albums. What album should I start with?

Myspace is being really stupid right now, but I think you might like the bands Envy and Gospel. Envy is epic, melodic japanese screamo and Gospel is really progressive type screamo. I can't find any Gospel stuff on youtube though.

                            Envy:

Beautiful and intense at the same time.

Nerd is a stereotype as well. Also I'm not gonna post an opinion about the music i just disagree with "Emo" being considered a music Genre, because it's not. I listen to a lot of "Emo" and screamo along with my favorite metal bands. I normally am attired in a black shirt and pants, and for a while i had moderately long hair. I'm considered "Emo" and when people say, "Stupid Emo kid go cry in a corner." the funnest thing to do is smile and blast some metal louder than rap. we should classify rap as retarded genre! It'd make so much more sense. (That last sentence was pure sarcasm)

Opeth? No idea. My favourite album by them is Deliverance but that's not everyone's favourite.

Most people would say go for Blackwater Park or Still Life. I think they are both good but I prefer Deliverance.

That or you could just get their newest album, Watershed, which is a good album in itself.
