The style was unique compared to the other 4 movies.
First, the 6th book is the last with quidditch (team wins harry kisses ginny blah blah).
Second, style is different b/c of the new director.
Third, cast was actually good as to what i could see, they aligned with the characters really well and flourished on their personalities.
Fourth, i'm glad they changed and left out parts in this movie b/c in the book they dragged out soo many unnecessary things and got me pissed about Umbridge wayyy too much.

Yes, new director means that there will be changes.
Also, in the book it was not Cho who ratted out the D.A.
Great special effects, but could have put another 10 minutes of them "exploring" the department of mysteries. In the book they ran from the death eaters a lot longer and also went into more rooms. (This could be due to budget)
Also, I think the talk with Harry and Dumbledore was lame. That explained the prophecy very well in the book. After the movie my friend was confused, and kept asking me questions about the prophecy and how Harry and Voldermort were "connected".
Last, this might just be me or it might be because the series is becoming more serious, and more to the point. But this movie seemed more sad/dark/gray. Does anyone notice this? It is kind of house CSI: New York portrays the city of New York. Gray and gloomy. Just something I picked up.

      Overall I give it a 7/10

I don't care what any of you said.

They translated it fairly well. If they had done the movie perfectly it probably would have been about 4.5 hours long. Certain things have to go, some of which are likely to be very important by the time the 7th movie comes along. I'm curious how they're going to handle that... maybe they actually filmed most of the **** they left out and they'll do a 4 hour long director's cut on DVD and have flash backs in future films where relevant.

By the way, was anyone else more satisfied with how they handled the fireplace chat with Sirius? I was so mad that they ****ed it up before. It's like... he's not ****ing burning logs inside the fireplace, you know?

EDIT: and for people bitching about quidditch: shut the hell up. It's not important at all in this year besides to show how much hell Umbridge is brining down on the students. Not only would quidditch have tacked on an additional half hour or possibly more, but full CG sequences like those surely cost a lot of money and it's really not worth it when it adds nothing unique to the plot.

That's the problem with long books like these. =\

They're just going to change the story a bit in the 7th movie if they've missed anything important in the prior ones.

                    Guys, shut the **** up.

I would have loved to see a 5 hour version of this movie, but I knew it wouldn't happen and anyone anticipating a perfect adaptation of the movie is naive or retarded.

Hey, having Cho be the rat is actually really pretty god damn smart, that would have worked pretty well in the book too, and it's an even better reason for him to lose all interest in her, 'cause in the book he just sort of stops caring for no specific reason

wouldn't complain about that difference at all, although Cho's personality isn't really like that but then again she's not developed a whole lot anyway

Well in the book the just randomly started arguing and she cried about Cedric wayy too much (Valentine's Day thing). Ergo Cho being the on who they used the last of the Veritasserum (sp?) on made it work well for Harry to lose interest in her. Also yes, i missed the brain room scene =[

                            omg movies != books?

no way i cant believe this is the first movie ever made that doesnt corrolate with the book it is based from, not a direct transposition of the text!!

surely no other movie ever made from a book has had this travesty occur!

Just came back from the movie. This is obviously a movie made for people who have not read the book. It was easy to understand and follow but if you have read the book then you know they pretty much screwed a lot of the plot up.

                                saw it

There were a couple things that could have been better, but overall it was a lot better than the fourth one. I don't think having Quidditch was particularly necessary, and Mundungus definitely wasn't.

Things that could have been better, mostly minor (spoilers):

-Harry didn't shout at Ron and Hermione upon arriving at HQ, combined with the Weasley twins coming and saying their lines from the book afterwards ("We thought we heard your dulcet tones"), which make almost no sense at all without Harry shouting.
-Pretty much everything about Luna. She just isn't weird enough--lack of radish earings or the Quibbler or almost everything that's weird about her in the book turns her into a pretty much completely pointless character in the movie.
-The actors for Tonks was too attractive--ironically, Tonks is probably better looking than Fleur in the movies, which is funny in a way but also makes no sense whatsoever given their respective characters.
-The scene with James WAS poorly handled. Not the scene itself, which was ok, but the fact that it's not mentioned again for the rest of the movie is kind of random and turns it into a pointless scene. Not only that, but that particulars of how that happens (Snape's Legilimency backfiring instead of Harry using the Pensieve) are just vastly inferior to those in the book, and for not much reason that I can see.
-Wtf is with Death Eaters having the power to turn into mist and fly at incredibly high speeds, and even attack people this way? It's cool looking, but it makes the power gap between Death Eaters and everyone else way higher than it ought to be--if Death Eaters could do that, there wouldn't really be much point in fighting back, since no one would have a chance against them.

                                Things that I did like:

-Umbridge was done quite well IMO. Almost exactly as nasty-sweet as I imagined from the book. Bravo.
-Over a hundred educational decrees ROFL, that should have been in the book XD
-I've talked about it already, but Cho being the rat is a nice touch.
-Duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore was sick, and definitely long enough wtf whoever said it wasn't expects way too much
-"Sorry professor, I must not tell lies". Loved that line hehe

Pretty good overall considering that they had to take a book with over 800 pages and turn it into a 2 hour or so movie.
