      You forgot Raccoon Balls.

And Porco Rosso, but I can see how you could forget those.

I was so let down by that movie. Everyone talked it up and talked it up, but there was no ending. I was so disappointed.

The beginning is the ending. It's when the boy dies. It's so sad.

Ghibli is so awesome, Castle In The Sky and Totoro still own and they were made in the 80's. I heard they have started production on a new film but it's still a secret what it's going to be, Miyazaki will announce it in december apparently.

The boy doesn't die in the beginning; he's just dead. And that still didn't fill the void of unfulfillment that remained in me after watching it. Right before the credits started rolling I thought, "Is this the end? No way; there HAS to be something else."

                  Re: Everything Studio Ghibli

Miyazaki/Ghibli's movies are not very good at all.

Sure, the animation looks really, really good, but that's about it.

The plots and characters are shoehorned into an hour and a half to two hour long pieces, thus resulting in nearly no development. If Studio Ghibli made series, I would likely enjoy their works far more, simply because anime movies all suffer from the same lack of development. You'll never get the same amount of character or plot development with a 2 hour movie as you will with a 12+ episode series.

There's also the fact that their plots and characters tend to be rather childish - Disney releases their movies over here, which is a pretty good indication of the material contained. Howl's Moving Castle is one of the worst in this regard.

So, I guess I'm saying that Studio Ghibli would be good if they made series instead of movies, which allow for more development, and introduce more mature plotlines and characters. With the same budget for one of their movies, they could easily make an excellent series, rather than a mediocre movie. I seriously doubt this will happen, however.

Oh yeah, the music is quite good too.

Personally, Moogy's statement makes me wonder if he has even seen a Miyazaki film as every Miyazaki film I've seen has been centered around the development of the main character, the climax always being that of the main character overcoming an internal conflict in order to overcome the external conflict.

You must not have seen spirited away, the main character Chihiro starts off as your typical whiny little girl but over the course of the movie grows up and becomes a much better person, her character develops a lot.

See what I did there? I just turned his post into a criticism of The Incredibles, which as we all know doesn't suck.

My Favourite films to come from Studio Ghibli are Spirited Away and Howls Moving Castle. I Love there work. I just wish I could of seen these films when I was younger, when my imagination was at it's wildest.

Favourite scene being when Chihiro can't stop her self running down the stairs in Spirited Away.
