Yeah, I was expecting a few people to not ever see / enjoy anything outside of Adult-Swim-esque shows, but this is kinda rediculous.

Experience more. There are so many better animes than FLCL, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop. Looking for random humor? Excel Saga, Galaxy Angel, Slayers. Looking for action? S-cry-ed, Bleach, Naruto. Looking for a show with a good story? Last Exile, Fruits Basket, Mai-HiME. Looking for my favorite shows? Stellvia, Read or Die, Great Teacher Onizuka.

I would have to say that all animes are my favourite. Except for some very sucky ones. But anime was not made to be sucky so there arent that many bad ones. Top 5= Inuyasha, kenshin, AIR, With hunter Robin, Fugi Yugi...Ooo i have to add one more---or two--Naruto and Ranma

Just because something is mainstream doesn't mean it's not worth watching. Doesn't the fact that it IS maintstream mean that it's very popular and widely successful? Having said that I don't enjoy most "mainstream" anime, I do however appreciate it's value and respect those who do enjoy them. Yes I do watch Adult Swim but that's not all I watch. I work night audit at a hotel and it's the only thing good on between 2 and 4 am. I don't watch anime so that people will think I am cool or unique. I do because the show is. Aslo "mainstream" anime is by far more accessible, so it's no wonder more people have seen it. You don't have to go online or in a store to find it. It's right there infront of you. Wow I didn't mean to go on for that long. My bad.
