This movie was definitely worth seeing. I never read any of the books, but man it really drags you in

It has an extremely interesting premise right off the bat

Midnight premiere, oh hell yes. It was awesome. Of course there were a few things they did wrong and a few things they could have done better but all in all the movie was an excellent experience and it was much better than I expected.

Oh and there really wasn't any screaming to be had. A bit of typical movie theater chitter-chatter from some folks who just cant keep their mouths shut but otherwise the crowd was respectful.

Since the Author of the book also wrote the screenplay for the movie it was bound to be pretty damn good regardless.

Saw it last night. Loved it.

I can't get myself excited to see it. Read the first book and had had enough. The author's writing style is way too bland for my tastes, and the whole thing felt like Battle Royale + Twilight the entire way through. Also, there were too many lame deaths. Overall, potential wasted.

Then again, who knows -- maybe I'd like the movie more, but I am skeptical.

I have two things to say on this subject

            One:

This was my first reaction when I found out about this book.

            Two:
From all people that work at a movie theater, stop.

            Just stop.

It was alright. It could have been better imo. It was often really corny and predictable. I think it would have been better if they made it rated R and had it be a little more violent.

I couldn't really tell, but did that guy that was in charge of overseeing the game have to eat those berries at the end and kill himself?

This is pretty much how I feel. I read battle royale and that was way more creative at dragging you into the hellhole they had to go through. In the hunger games movie they kill off a few little kids in the first 30 seconds and kind of push it to the side like nothing happened. They could have really made all of it way more emotional and thought provoking. I want to be emerged into the world of the person right before they are killed off. The battle royale live action movie had the shittiest budget ever and it was still better at pulling me in.

Eh, it's hard to tell. They don't scream as much as Twi-hards did.

After thinking this over, I'd rather wait until it comes out on dvd and just wait until May 4 to watch in theaters again.

Is the fanbase really that bad?

I suppose they're not worse, they're just equally as bad in a different way. At least with Twi-hards you could knock them off to just being 14 year old girls trying to live their ultimate love story through a one sided, protagonist written with so little personality that anybody could throw themselves onto it, supposing they wanted to. And at least they had the sense to realize not everybody gave a shit about their fantasies, or, at least, didn't want the guy giving out popcorn to know about them. With The Hunger Games, it seems like the fans are incredibly pretentious about how innovative and interesting the idea was, and they all seem to have the need to tell me their favourite part and blahblahblah like I'm supposed be just as interested about it as they are since, hey, The Hunger Games is for everybody, right?

                          /bitter

At least I can take solace in the hype about it being over in about two weeks, just like every other book-turned-movie.

Note I'm not really bashing the movie or the book or even the fans really, but working 16 hour days where 1298301938109 people go to see the movie makes me want to break a puppy over my knee.

They turned the movie into a Peeta vs. Gale thing like Twilight, and it surprised me that they didnt squeam about the gory games. Overall Twi-hards were more hardcore on the hype.

Oh, I see what you are saying now. You are the one working at the theater. I used to work at a movie theater too, but it was before twilight style fanatics were around so it was generally pretty calm other than holidays. Weird that holidays are the busiest days of the year.

I still think we need a modern remake of battle royale with a high budget that is rated R. I heard a rumor that they were working on it, but it was suspended due to school shootings and was thought to be in bad taste.
