I've been playing with FL Studio's for a little bit now. Still not very good at making music but if you want a copy I can give you it. Added you on MSN as I can't give it to you here due to the rules.

Reason 4.0.
FL sucks for most music.

After you get used to it, add in Ableton, and VSTis.

FL doesn't suck, you just have to learn how to use it properly.

Anyway, you kind of have to make the judgement call on what program you use. I found that FL was more hands-on and lets you fool around. Half of the artists here have atleast used FL at some point as well, so you can get some good help and advice from here.

I'm not saying that Reason 4.0 is bad, but I can't get the general feel of the program within twenty-minute intervals. If you don't like having your window closed every twenty minutes on the demo version, I'd go with FL. If you want to get the full version of Reason by other means than buying and try it out then, I'm not encouraging you or holding you back. The choice is yours.

Edit: Teliath, you can export until the cows come. You just can't save FL files.

Actually, lots of people use only programs like Audacity and Cubase to make songs. I don't know exactly how they do it, I believe they record live with a Midi keyboard and change the sounds.

You're correct. They change sounds on Audacity, they can't create music on it. You can chop, splice, insert, delete, add a few effects, and make volume changes in Audacity, but you can't create music.

i know Ejay is basic.. but im a beginner..i guess il start with ejay, then move on to FL... i will move on right now if someone have a BIG tutorial to give me..cause i dont know wtf to do in that program.

Although it's often a downside, FL was meant to experiment with. If there's anything you need in there, check Cornandbeans' help page in this forum, then contact me, sleeplessdragn, Endo, Starshot, DarkbearX, or Stargroup100 if your questions still aren't answered. There are probably a billion other FL users, but those are just the people off of the top of my head.

I really wouldn't bother with the eJay crap. I stumbled on it when I was looking for software as you were, and it was not only one of the most stupid interfaces possible, it was insanely high for RAM and CPU usage. FLStudio (which is what Fruity Loops changed their name to at version 5.0) is really intuitive and easy to use. I'd start with that.

FL's the easiest to get used to as was mentioned before, so I say try FL first. If you don't like it, look through Pyroshock's thread and see which daw works best for you.

And for FL tutorials... lots of video tuts on Youtube.
