software?

Ya I was just wondering what software you guys use to make your music if you do. Thought it would be interesting to maybe do something while I'm bored. I tried Garageband before. It was neat I suppose, but it didn't seem it had certain features and plus I don't own a mac.

Anyways to the point.. Do you guys have any specific pick? Maybe a good free program to start off with would be nice.

Frooty Loop.. I never tried it but I heard it was good..( I think thats what it was called)
