I listen to far too much to mention a single category, but what I listen to:

All forms of prog, including:

Art Rock, Symphonic, Jazz/Fusion, Canterbury, Experimental, Krautrock, Neo, Folk, Electronic, Metal, Psychedelic, Avant, Zeuhl etc.

Then add in plain old rock, metal, heavy metal, death metal, mainly all variants of rock and metal. Jazz on it's own, classical, acoustic stuff, "world-influenced" music, ambient/soundtrack music, old Rythym and Blues, the odd dance/hard house/industrial song, some "gothic" stuff, and then some stuff that can't even be classified (like Mike Patton's solo albums which are just sounds he makes with his voice).

Yeah, there you go.

Hey guys this thread is for punk not emo.. I would have to say that Simple Plan is my favorate punk band.

You DO realize that Simple Plan is the pinnacle of emo. EVERY song of theirs is either about how they hated their childhood, hated their parents, hated life, or a combination of such. How is that NOT emo?

What are you smoking? Just because thier parents were mean does'nt mean that there emo. Senteces from Hawthorne Heights:Ohio Is For Lovers "Cut my wrist and black my eyes". You say that their punk when they say cut my wrist? Does simple plan say anything about hurting themselves? I think not. The whole point of being an emo is hating everyone and cutting themselves. Simple Plan does'nt hate everyone their singer wrote most those songs about his step dad. Quote from their song Perfect

Simple Plan has lyrics that imply basically the same thing as "Cut my wrist" from whatever song you quoted that from.

By what fits in band-wise for you, 'Bowling for Soup' would be considered punk. IIRC, they were on Cartoon Network friday, they sure are hardcore.

I don't want to get into the genre battle, but I will say that blink-182 is NOTHING more than pop-punk. I wasted like 3 years listening to them, ugh.

I don't care if they're by definition punk or not. Listen to Millencolin, Pennywise, and Zebrahead. Zebrahead is iffy on being 'punk' but if you're like me those three will knock you out of this **** phase you're in now.
