Re: Recommend me post-hardcore and emo albums

I have a ginormous list, but I'll separate my list into categories because post-hardcore and emo are huge genres that usually take influence from other subgenres as well. I don't like all of these albums, but I think this is a comprehensive enough list to know what you're going into. In no particular order.

For what it's worth, I'm most knowledgeable about American emoviolence and Japanese post-hardcore, so I'm sure I'm going to miss a few albums. "Self-Titled" basically means that the album name is the same as the band name.

            post-hardcore/post-rock
Envy - A Dead Sinking Story
Totorro - All Glory to John Baltor
Heaven in Her Arms - 白暈
            City of Caterpillar - Self-Titled

            post-hardcore/math rock
            ling tosite sigure - #4
The Fall of Troy - Self-Titled
            Hail the Sun - Wake
            Slint - Spiderland

            post-hardcore/metalcore/pop punk
            Saosin - Translating the Name
Underoath - Lost in the Sound of Separation
Thrice - The Illusion of Safety
            Alexisonfire - Crisis
            9mm Parabellum Bullet - Termination

My Chemical Romance's first album (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love) is also a good shoutout for post-hardcore that's more pop-punk oriented as well.

            post-hardcore/emoviolence
Orchid - Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow
            Youth Novel - Youth Novel
            Portraits of Past - 01010101
Love Lost but Not Forgotten - Self-Titled
            Lord Snow - Solitude

Some emo is quite different from post-hardcore, so I'm not sure if you're looking for emo that's closer to screamo/post-hardcore specifically or emo in general, but here are some recs regardless.

            midwest emo/math rock
            Jyocho - 祈りでは届かない距離
            American Football - LP1
Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) - What It Takes to Move Forward
Cap'n Jazz - Burritos, Inspiration Point, Fork Balloon Sports
toe - The Book About My Idle Plot on a Vague Anxiety

Jyocho and toe are arguably weird picks because I've seen them classified more as math rock than midwest emo, but I think both bands take massive influence from midwest emo with their twinkly guitar lines and loud/soft dynamics. You can argue otherwise.

            misc emo
Parannoul/Asian Glow/sonhos tomam conta - Downfall of the Neon Youth
            Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Parannoul - To See the Next Part of the Dream

Hope you find something that you'd like out of this list.

Anything by Pile, but special shoutout to Magic Isn't Real
Yank Crime - Drive Like Jehu
Hissing Prigs In Static Couture - Brainiac
Effete & Impudent Snobs - Cows
              Liar - The Jesus Lizard
              Loved - KEN mode
              Rusty - Rodan
Dog Whistle - Show Me The Body
The above post has a 50% chance of being useless. Potentially. Maybe.

BEST AAAs: WANDERLUST, Pandora, Necropotence, Mourning The Lost, Eradication, Feldschlacht

                Criminally underrated album.

If you'd like a suggestion for an album to never listen to I recommend never listening to fucking Black Parade

Something more on the emo side, Boys Night Out was one of my fav local bands back in the day. Everyone loves Trainwreck but I prefer their self-titled album. This track was a big hit on Myspace

This is a song about living in beautiful Hamilton, Ontario

This song from Alexisonfire's Crisis (as recommended by Wiosna) is also about Hamilton
