HORRAY FOR GOOD TUTORIALS DOT COM.... cmon, lets get less cliche. sure they look nice and they are uber trendy (if you like being a trend whore)...but, tech, grunge, abstract, and plasma are stock and staple. Everyone has em. The point of a sig is to stand out not to look like everyone elses. All I see is "fun with filers"... render clouds, gaussian blur, inner glow, outer glow, bad angle screen caps and images from websites, UGLY fonts and a total lack of originality. Poor composition, placement and color use ran dry on some of these. I do commend you guys on following a tut to a "t", but....usually the tus are given out freely by those already making the new trends...are you leader or follower?

SOMEONE PLEASE do something completely original - liek hey why not 3d model something (and I dont mean in weak ass cinema 4d, thats kiddie looking 99% of the time)...model it, then go in and color it...then sig it out

How about...leave them the F alone and let them do w/e they want to? C'mon senate, im sure you started out at a point where all of your stuff was related to theirs. I know I used to do that shit all the time and I learned BY MYSELF to stop and move on to more advances techniques.

I learned on my own to move on to more "advances" stuff too, I commend you on the ability to exhibit basic common sense. Anyone who sits inthe same pattern and flow of things artistically is going to never branch and become diverse. So, I'd HOPE that you didn't have to be told to move on to more advanced things.

Honestly, no I didnt start with filter play, and I never relied on Good-tutorials, or SweDesigns or anything like that to get started in art. However, I do and have relied on tuts for CGI, PERL, and ASP scripts (this isnt to say Im a script kitty. I look at hte tuts, get a basic understanding of what is going on, and then adjust it to what I need; customize what it is Im looking at). I understand the use of tuts and filters, adnd more so the need for them. I never said that it was unfounded. I did say that they don't need to blow up their work to be something it isn't. WOOO an animated gif done in ImageReady...congrats, welcome to everyone else. The general attitude was that of "HOLY FRIKEN POOP! I JUST DID FOLLOWED DIRECTIONS - APPLAUD ME". Thats like commending someone for tying their shoes. If say, they were to wait 3-4 months, post a skill progression in a series of works, that would be a different story. Like I said, filter play is basic and really isnt something to brag about, you want kudos, at least be original or more uptodate than 1999. New discovery is great, but why not look around and see what the current thigns are and stop over killing grunge, abstract, and plasma, and tech. Some of the work is with out a doubt good follow through, but thats about it. Why not take the tutorial concepts, and apply them to something slightly different. LIke say...take the grunge aspect of the work, and not make it so grungy, increase the color brightness insread of washing them out or playing with subdued colors and create a several txtures on an abstract design. That meshing two or three older ideas to create a new one. Its how new things come about. I was simply stating that rather than be a flock of sheep, be different, becuase thats no what has been shown here.

Im fairly certain that tomorrow or late tonight, that when APERSON and I battle it out in the other thread, that I'll get lower votes simply becuase, in general Im not liked too much (and I could care about that, but I dont). So far it seems that the different cliques coddle each other and I think that was part of the reason Verracker or whatever left. He got tired of unfounded arrogance, and exclusion. I don't blame him. I may not have kngeviy here, but its not a science to figureout that there is massive coddeling and a "good 'ol boy" system at play. However, its not stopping me from stating my mind, and offering honesty. I'm blunt and can be an ass, but I have talked to several of you on AIM and am pretty sure that once you actually get to talk to me, Im not really THAT bad of a guy...Im just blunt. If you don't like it or can't handle honesty to the point of what you deem rude...w/e - thicken up. I don't coddle and I don't praise where its not due. However, if something IS technically good, I will acknowledge that. The same is said for being prven beyond arguement, that I'm wrong. If you or anyone can prove me wrong, I'll admit that. Im fair in my "arrogance". You hadn em feces, I'll tell you its feces. You hand me gold, I'll say its as much.

What im trying to say is don't compare your self to them because most of the time when you talk, im sure they don't understand half the stuff that you are talking about. I don't hate you, I actually like your work alot. Just try not to make bad comments to people by looking at yourself by "you are better than them".

k, well my sig is not grungy. nor is it a DL'd brush. nor is it gaussian blurred, or filtered in any way.


and I know a ton of artists who could prove you completely wrong about the C4D comment.
