I also like the nps scale. The standard ITG scale for harder files is blown out of proportion and no longer makes sense.

there is 1 tip for people going to college. When you're in college, you'll be 16, which is the age where (where i live) you can get laid lawfully. basically, get laid asap when they look the best.

Rap music is music. However, It's not in the traditional sense of how we understand music. The vocals are filled with slangs that gangs used since the 70s and a lot of the instrumentations are replaced with "Street Sounds" instead of traditional instruments. Music is defined as any combination of sounds that is pleasing to the ear, so while one person may find it as "noise" another person can find it pleasing to the ear and so call "vibe" with it as how I think the kids would say it these days.
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.

I have very little Photoshop knowledge and it's my first attempt at Stepmania graphics. Needing some critique because I'm stumped on how to make it better.
Wow Alex, I really love that banner and background. I think it's amazing actually

Ok what the hell!!! I thought m0de was a girl (who smokes cocaine), I thought Quigly was a little kid, and I thought Staiain was an old asian guy, And until I added kmay on facebook I thought he was this cute asian girl...
I'm not a super-skilled graphic artist like some of the people in here, but my personal opinion:
You have the right idea for using a font color that somewhat matches the color scheme of the background graphic itself, that's a good start (and surprisingly, some people don't do this intuitively). In addition, the font used for GORESHIT also works for me personally.
I personally don't like the font for the thinking of you, especially considering you picked something extremely smooth and relatively circular to oppose something that is a bit more sharper/concise -- my issue with the fonts could be the overall thickness difference between them.
For someone who is brand new, it's not a bad attempt at all.
@alex: I say this to everyone, so I'm not only ragging on you for this, but don't combine different typefaces unless you have any knowledge about typography. much like colour theory having complementary colours, typefaces are also complementary to one another and should resonate together. I kind of figured that maybe it'd be some sort of common sense that mixing a geometric sans-serif with something that is condensed doesn't resonate together in most cases, but that apparently doesn't stop regular peeps that know absolutely nothing about typography from doing it, lol. then again, this isn't even meant to be professional work to begin with, it's fucking stepmania graphics, so frankly this doesn't even matter and this comment shouldn't be taken to heart unless you're actually interested in a typography crazed designer's opinion.
other than the typeface choice, what you also might want to consider is decreasing the point size of GORESHIT by maybe half of what it is now, to create a hierarchy of information. because the song title and artist are nearly the same point sizes, both are fighting for a visual focal point as to which comes first, the song title or the artist—people unfamiliar with the artist might even mix the two up, haha. other than me being picky and ranting about type, you should probably lose the black stroke on the song title as it looks completely jarring when combined with a thin typeface like the one you chose—it would also harmonize with GORESHIT, as it has no stroke at all. consider using typefaces with a variety of weights from thin/light to bold/black and experiment with using them to create contrast (e.g. making the song title bold while the artist in a much lighter weight). in most cases, the larger the difference the weight (re: light v.s. extra bold) the greater and better the contrast the type gives, which further increases visual appeal/interest and defines a strict hierarchy of information.
another thing to be mindful about is where exactly you're placing type because for people that run versions 3.9 or 3.95 with the default theme, there exist black bars located along both left and right edges that will completely obscure anything too close to either of them. in addition, the top and bottom scoring bars during gameplay are also elements that are large enough to obscure key areas in the background image, so you shouldn't place type near the top or bottom edges either. pretty much, around the center is the sweet spot, but from a designer's perspective, try to avoid placing type dead center because it's arguably a lot less stale and boring when it's offset to either side.
lastly, for people running default themes of 3.9 or 3.95, because a simfile author's cdtitle is located at the top right of a banner by default, that too is another element that may obscure type on a banner. arguably, I'd say the cdtitle+banner awareness is more important than the how the background looks during gameplay, because a large majority play with 0% background brightness, and everyone is too focused on reading the notes anyways.
but anyways, the set is pretty good for a first try, alex! good job dude.
actually, a lot of what I said above can be applied to a lot of your guys' graphics, lol. consider my critique/advice for future sets at your own discretion I guess. if not, just continue what you're doing, it doesn't really matter in the end when it's stepmania graphics, lol.
