maybe to put a different song to play in the Background, but then you'd have to start it at exactly the right time and it'd have to have the same bpm and off hits that go with the song and not the rythmn

I do it all the time for offbeat songs. Once I've played them enough and have the song memorized, I can hear it in my head and auto-sync it to the arrows :P It actually works quite well for me.

Actually it's because my school has a comp lab but they locked all the settings (including drag and control panel) so I can't play FFR without getting into... lots of trouble. : P

Try plugging some headphones into either the speaker port on the back or preferrably a headphone-specific port on the front. That should effectively mute the computer speakers. Also, a headphone adapter (like with for making a big microphone plug fit into a tiny port) should accomplish this same task.

Additionally, if your school's using a similar lockout technique to my school's and it has XP you can try this: Open Internet Explorer (I assume you can if you're playing FFR), then go to File/Open and type in C:\. This should cause Internet Explorer to transform itself into a Windows Explorer like setup. That should cause a left pane to open up with various quick links to my documents, etc. Click on one of the quick links that says "My Computer." From there, the quick link to "Control Panel" should show up. Eventually you may be able to reach the sound control options like that, though sometimes that will be prevented from loading up.
