Hello! I've got a couple questions...

I have a couple of questions for the FFR community. I've checked out all the stickies, and have yet to find answers to these questions:

1) All of my forum posts are backwards! When I click on a thread, the last post in the thread shows up first. How can I change this?

2) This is my most important question. How can I change the global offset of the notes in ffr? The notes appear a tenth of a second earlier than the music, and it makes AAA's very difficult. This affects my desktop speakers, headphones, and laptop speakers. It's not my hardware either, since I have a Core 2 Extreme X6800 with a GTX 260.

3) I understand the concept of tier points, but I don't quite know what the structure "a (x + y for b AAAs)" means, exactly. Could someone tell me what each of the variables I've labeled represents? I'm pretty sure b is just the number of AAAs you have total, but I don't know about the others.

4) Where do I get a tier points sig? Is this available on the site after you get at least a point? (I know this is jumping the gun, but I'm close to getting a couple tier points already).

You can't change one and two, but I know nothing about tier points so I can't help with the other two.

I think you manually check for tiers to know what you got... but I don't know too much about tier myself.

As for number one, you CAN change that.

You go to FFR Forum... User CP... Edit Options.

1. Go in there and then scroll down to thread display mode. Change it to Linear - Oldest First.

2. There is no way to change global offset. Sorry.

3. 'A' is how many total Tier Points you have at the moment. 'X' is how many TPs you've obtained just from playing songs on the list. It is independent of the bonus TPs that represent 'Y'. Bonus TPs from Y are obtained by AAAing songs. I think the first bonus point is awarded after 200 total AAAs. These AAAs include both public and token levels.

Let's use my TPs just to clarify everything.

Tier Points: 252 (221 + 31 for 507 AAAs)

I have 252 total TPs, 221 from songs on the list, and my bonus is an extra 31 TPs because I have 507 total AAAs. There is a thread located in General Talk that details even more if you still have questions.

It's too bad that the global offset is unchangeable. It's almost unbearable, but I guess I'll have to forgo AAA's until I find some solution. Does anyone else have this problem?

How about the tier sig? Eventually I'll overcome this sound problem and start racking up tier points, so it would be nice to have.

You're quite welcome, musicdemon. Take your time with the many, many levels here, and good luck battling your troubles with the sync; as it cannot be manually altered, it will just be something you'll have to get used to.

About the offset: if you have Vista that might be the problem. Vista tends to lag FFR making AAAing songs a lot harder. If you don't then I'm not sure what the problem is, however if you really want some AAA's you can always play with the volume off.

Thanks for the tip, Quigly! I am using Vista. I'll go switch to XP and see if the sync is better.

EDIT: CONFIRMED. Vista is the culprit here. The arrows scroll so smoothly now!!! This has made such a difference. Yesterday I tried to AAA Computer Dreams about 20 times, but failed miserably because I had to anticipate each note and step 1/10 of a second faster than the music. It was really frustrating because I am quite good with rhythm games and hand-eye coordination. I was accepted into the All-State choir back in high school, so I know how to hold a beat

I tried Computer Dreams again a minute ago and was shocked that it went so well...until I got a blackhat on the last note and uttered a string of expletives that would make a sailor blush.
