Ok maybe someone can tell me what im doing wrong *simfile*

ok i have been trying to make a simfile all day but i cant seem to get the music form my PC onto the Stepmania. i will list the steps i am doing and maybe someone can find my error


1. i have downloaded stepmania and i know which song i want to use in my music folder

2. i open Stepmania folder and click on SONGS

3. in the SONGS folder i make a NEW FOLDER. (i named this folder "new folder")

3. inside NEW FOLDER i made another folder and named this one "My New Song"

4. Inside the MY NEW SONG folder i copy and pasted the information below and i filled out the.... Song Name, Artist , Banner, and the Song.

i made this a TEXT DOCUMENT


#TITLE:Song Name; <--- This one (i entered the anme of the song)
#SUBTITLE:;
#ARTIST:Artist's Name; <--- This one (i entered my name :P)
#TITLETRANSLIT:;
#SUBTITLETRANSLIT:;
#ARTISTTRANSLIT:;
#CREDIT:;
#BANNER:Banner.png; <--- This one (i entered the name of the song)
#BACKGROUND:;
#LYRICSPATH:;
#CDTITLE:;
#MUSIC:Song.mp3; <--- This one (i entered the name of the song)
#OFFSET:-0.000;
#SAMPLESTART:;
#SAMPLELENGTH:;
#SELECTABLE:YES;
#BPMS:0.000=150.000;
#STOPS:;
#BGCHANGES:;


5. after i filled out the following information i saved it. Then i went back and RENAMED the text document and turned it into a .SM document


6. once i changed that document i copy and pasted my MP3 song right next to the .SM DOCUMENT


7. then i went to stepmania and it said there was no song.

***.SM Document + MP3 Song





HELP ME SOMEONE!!!! i have watched numerous videos on youtube saying how to add the song to stepmania and none of them have worked.

Save it as a dwi, not an sm file.

Also, you only really need this:

#TITLE:Song Name;
#ARTIST:Artist's Name;
#BANNER:Banner.png;
#MUSIC:Song.mp3;
#OFFSET:0.000;
#BPMS:0.000=150.000;

Everything else you can add in SM, I think.

I just use the Package and Exporter tools and Import a song.

Neednessly complicated process your doing. You can simply do what Fido said and use the Stepmania Tools and Package Importer and it will create a folder with the MP3 for your file.

Then open stepmania and choose the editor.
Pick a difficulty and press create from blank
and it should make a .SM and a .DWI

where are the stepmania tools and package importer located?

and once i find them, how do i use them?

It's a blue thing with a red arrow, if you don't see it, you may have to uninstall your Stepmania, and when you reinstall it, it will show it right away.

Start ===> Programs ===> Stepmania ====> Stepmania Tools And Package Importer ====> Create Song

Some versions of SM dont have that importer, and I've never used it

Lemme help you out were it is easier for everbody, Copy this in a text doc and save as a .dwi . WHENEVER YOU ADD A NEW SONG, ADD THIS AS THE DWI. Change the info in the SM editor.

#FILE:;
#BPM:150.000;
#GAP:0;
#SAMPLESTART:30.880;

In the editor, F7/F8
