Hello everyone!!!! I probably spelled the title wrong and may be very offensive gomenasai! Anyways, I am an avid Manga and anime fan. I've seen over 30 animes... And completed more than half of them. And yeah, I know it's not quite right.. I also don't know how to use the kanji so... Sorry.
Watashii Wa Stacie desu.. Ogenki-desu?

You should really explain things more in detail.
For example I have no clue what gomenasai! is. Much less what your thread name means.
Keep it to English. Read the rules and stickies.
Welcome to FFR.

and those of us who are interested in Japanese, try to actually keep things Japanese. That is to say, leave the romaji at the door.
For future reference, the romanization is "watashi". And I don't really like the idea of making a formally structured question without using "ka", but I guess that's just a matter of style.私はステーシです。 お元気です?
ps it might look like I'm super amazing with kanji, but I'm not. Japanese text entry makes for easy kanji use.

ya i know
But look at the kana this person used (ie zero). I just wanted to point out that I was only using kanji myself because the Japaneses insert makes it so easy.
In other words, I didn't want to appear braggy about using the kanji when they apparently couldn't even do kana.

Well, since I don't have the Japanese language pack installed on my comp atm, if you were trying to be formal, it'd be something like this:
Watakushi no namae wa Stacie desu. (So shi te?[wow word filter]) ogenki desuka? (Not entirely sure, I'm only in Japanese II :X

Re: Watashii Wa Stacie desu.. Ogenki-desu?
"no namae" isn't needed. Just think about English. Would you say "My name is Chris" or would you say "I am Chris"? Both are fine, true, but one is wordier, and wordiness is even worse in Japanese than it is in English.
ps the katakana I put for the name Stacie was "suteeshi". Don't know where the hell you could get "soshite" from.

so shi te = "also,"
Also, I was saying that if you wanted to be formal about it, you'd probably say something like that.

In Japanese, the wordier, the more formal. Though, I don't see the need for such formality on an online forum. "ステーシです。みんな元気?" works just as well. Also, in formal Japanese, the question mark isn't used, just stick a "。" after the "か".
Oh, and welcome to FFR.Last edited by concertm; 09-21-2007, 03:02 AM.Comment
