How do you generally move up on the difficulties?

Hi, I have been playing FFR1 for a few weeks now and I can barely beat the songs on the tricky difficulty. When moving up the ranks, should I try to FC the songs on the previous difficulty level and then move up or should I stay within a certain rank until I can beat it.

Also, is there any way to slow the notes down for practicing or any way to view the order of notes to songs in an image or something. I am asking because a lot of times I just see a mass of notes without any discernible order and I am having trouble trying to see which notes are in which order. I was looking for something like practice mode in Guitar Hero II. Thanks for any help.

I suggest that you only try to go up a level when you can comfortably pass every song within that difficulty. As for a Practice Mode, no, it does not exist. That would be very helpful, though.

try changing your speed settings to 1.5 or 1.75 that should help a bit
