What is an OGG file and how do I open them

sorry if this don't go here but I dont know what is OGG and I cant play them in Windows Media Player. How do I play them in WMP or another program

Winamp supports .ogg files. They're just like an .mp3, but y'know, different.

I use the vlc media player because it can play mainly all types of video formats and has tons of different codecs in it. It will definitely play OGG's though.
