New members - READ THIS FIRST (amended 6/11) ~ LD edit

Welcome to the new "n00b" forum. Since people can't be mature and get their titties in a twist when a new person posts something out of curiosity, I have put this up to shield the new people. Introduce yourself, ask questions, learn the ropes and feel free to post in the other sections as well.

First off just use common sense while posting on the forum. No flamming, postwhoring or other bad behavior will be tolerated. Hacking and posting porn will get your ass kicked. Treat others how you would want them to treat you. The forum rules pretty much coincide with the chat rules other than the obvious things such as emotiwhoring.

The chat can be enjoyable or the most fucking painful experience ever depending on how the people in the chat act. Let's clean up our act a little bit and make the chat enjoyable. Synth holds radio shows on some nights so if you're up late, you can chill there. Chat rules include:

The following rules apply to the general lobby. Anything happening in private chats is exactly that - private. If you can not accept taking the responsibility for what someone might say to you in the private chats, do not accept invitations or invite people you do not know into your private chat.
Upon entering the chat, you agree to understanding the general rules and understand you can be kicked without warning (although most of us are nice and will give you a warning unless the infraction is very annoying and/or intolerable), or in severe cases, banned from the site altogether.
    You can be kicked for:

    1) Flamming/threatening other members in chat. Keep it out of the main lobby. There is a difference between debating and arguing. If someone is flamming and there is a mod, present, don't argue back as both members of the flamming/arguing/etc. are eligible to be kicked.

    2) No spamming. Do not enter repeated blank spaces, emoticons or gibberish. Yes, the new emoticon graphics are cool, but people do not want to see them flash over and over and over again. If you feel you absolutely must see all of the emoticons, please create a private room to view them in.

Those were the two basic broken rules of netiquette in the previous chat rooms, so let's please control the flamming and spamming.
Also, in regard to the game itself:

    1) There are no secret songs in FFR. All of the "bugs" are being removed. Seriously. No for real. Honestly. They won't be there within the next few betas, so do not talk about them on the chat (there are good reasons, and if you honestly still do not understand why, I guess you can ask me through PM or AIM), and also no mention of them on the forums.

    2) Do not talk about hacking FFR in the chat. This will be a kick without warning and a possible banning from the site altogether.
More rules may be added in the future as needed, but as long as you stick to general netiquette, you will be just fine. The chat is there to have fun, meet new people and talk to other friends. Please follow the rules and make the chat for other people.

    3) Do not use the forum to address private issues. If you need to tell a single individual something, use the private messaging feature.

Next, the FAQ is there for a reason. It isn't there for just simple shits and giggles. If you have a question that has been asked millions of times already IT WILL BE ON THE FAQ. It also doesn't hurt to check the suggestion threads super quick to see if your question can be answered there. There is also a DWI file FAQ there which I will update soon. If you are creating files for FFR you can use my FAQ, but if you're making them in general, use Arch0wl's FAQ as gaps are very important outside of FFR and if you don't understand why, ask one of the file makers and they will explain. Ask nice and explain you are new to file making and they won't bite your heads off.

Here, I'll cover the most pressing of issues asked on a daily basis:

    1) When is Remix going to be released?
A: When it is finished. It's going to take some time.

    2) Will FFR ever feature multiplayer?
A: It is very possible, but it is another thing which will take some time. It is in high consideration.

    3) Can we use songs by (insert popular, licensed recording artist here)?
A: No. If you want it that bad, talk to the record company and give them the $10,000+ they will want in royalties because we don't have that kind of money.

    4) How can I make a stepfile?
A: Look at the Stepfile FAQ featured on this site.

    5) When will the version (insert next version) update be ready?
A: When it is ready. We have lives which include jobs, wife/girlfriend and family you know. Also, we do not get paid for this so it is a freetime effort. We work as dilligently as we can but don't expect so much in so little time ^_^.

    6) Why won't FFR run on my computer?
A: FFR runs funny on Macs for some reason, but if the game is not working properly for you, ask someone who knows computers (i.e., not me). Synthlight is a good source. If the newest version is not appearing for you, try clearing your cache.

    7) How do I clear my cache?
A: Tools > Internet Options > Under temporary Internet files: click on Delete Files.
This method is for the Microsoft Internet Explorer application. If someone could enlighten me how to do this for alternate applications, it would be greatly appreciated.

    8) Will you add freeze arrows, doubles, multiple stepfiles and modifiers (insert any other feature here)?
A: They are in the works for Remix.

    9) Where are the hidden songs?
A: Hidden songs? What are you talking about? There are secret songs that you earn, but these hidden songs you think exist are imaginary. Go smoke some more crack.

    10) The Legend of Zelda is performed by System of a Down. Why do you have Rabbit Joint as the artist?
A: Because Rabbit Joint told us they performed the song. There is no absolute proof SOAD performed this song and they've yet to claim they have. I did a little investigative reporting on this and my results are in the main site's FAQ. As far as I figure someone found the song, said "I'm a dumbass, this sounds like SOAD so it has to be," posted it on Kazaa by SOAD and now legions of people think this is true.

    11) Why is the top score to Mario so high?
A: Because losers feel they have to use hacked scores.

Just have fun with the forums and be sensible in your actions. And, oh yeah, welcome to FFR.
