I'm not new here, but I have a n00b question

I recently noticed some harder songs have red, and even yellow arrows. Is there a difference from blue arrows, or are they just there to look cool?

I know yellow arrows are half beats...am I correct someone? Not so sure what the red arrows are for though. I guess to look cool. Oh and btw, Balloon Fever has cool arrow colors.
