Hi, just wanted to make a quick post about myself. I've been reading the forums for a few days and signed up on the weekend. I'm trying to get back into the home DDR scene, checking out pads, Stepmania etc and just trying to familiarise myself. I haven't played in many years, but used to play quite often in the days of DDR 2nd-6th mix. I used to consider myself an above average player (playing songs like Max 300 on red/almost green lol) but after seeing what's out there now, I've got a long way to go. Looking forward to learning more!

Spread is a playstyle where you use your two hands (and their index and middle fingers) to play. For example, I play with the keys S, D, K, and L.
S goes to the left arrow, D goes to the down arrow, K goes to the up arrow, and L goes to the right arrow. That's a spread playstyle. Most patterns you'll encounter (I think) will be easier. Most.
Not the best explanation, but the Etterna project is an in-progress (?) and more advanced version of Stepmania. I think the grading system is different, and there's a built-in difficulty calculator. (Someone else help)
