I think as things are now, humans will never evolve into anything else.
Reasons:
1) Evolution is a process of random mutations that provides a natural advantage to the evolving species, allowing them to outlive and reproduce faster than the replaced species. Evolution is more about the weaker dying out, than it is the strong surviving. As many aid programs and health policies and humanitary efforts that we collectively enact. We prevent the "weaker" humans from dying out. And on that same note, it's not as if there's a huge competition for food now... just about anybody can pop into a 7-11 and get a chili-cheese hotdog to keep em going. Bottom line, there's no benefit factor for the mutating species, and no punishing factor for the old species... hence: no replacement.
2) We find ways to change our surroundings rather than ourselves. Gee... are we going to hope we can digest these weird plants we never ate before, or are we just gonna tear them up, make a field and grow more wheat. All in favor of more wheat, say "I" ::resounding chorus:: "I!"
Besides, we face no harsh situations as it is, most of our enviromental controls are for convienence: AC, heat, dehumidfiers, air filters (damn pollen, damn allergies).
Well, that's a start.... I might post more reasons when I feel like it, as for right now, I'm gonna go get one of those chili-cheese hotdogs from 7-11.
