Yeah that's the only real downside I see with alternative energy like hydrogen fuel cells for cars is the lack of horsepower. That alone is going to turn off a lot of people and then we'll have the same problem as we did with electric cars, too expensive and too weaksauce. About the exploding hydrogen though, these fuel cell casings are amazingly strong, I saw a demonstration on Discovery I think and they beat the hell out of it without any danger of exploding. So will it catch on? Probably not until we run our oil reserves dry or they can make a practical balance of price and power.
