George Carlin at 8 minutes<3. Will watch the whole thing&edit with a response soon.

edit: 36 minutes in. It's really remarkable. I've heard/watched numerous things similar to this but this is by far the best put together. Very interesting, and i'm not easily persuaded(sp?).

      Part one is incredibly interesting.

Going to a movie, then I'll finish this.

A very, very well done video, and one of the scarier things i've seen in a while. Who knows how much of it is true, but it's all very convincing with no apperent flaws. To those bashing without actually watching it, stop making a fool of yourself and watch the damn video. I'm a Christian myself, but having seen the first part I'm going to do some research. If what it claims, with Jesus just being a repeated idea dating back to Egypt, than I don't know what to think

If it makes you feel better, there is plenty of completely secular, non-religious proof that Jesus existed, and was a prophet, and (as I recall) there are even records of his being sentenced to death by crucifixion.

            Re: Watch this.

I'm watching this video at the moment and I'm quite interested in it. I haven't quite finished it, but I already have a question. When they speak about the "ages", how does that work out? It says that every 2,250 years, the Earth enters a new age based on constellations. How does the Earth's orbit change to fit this?

Sorry if it's been answered, I have yet to read the thread because I'm watching the video.

This is an amazing video. I'm not saying I believe it, but it really opened my mind to the possibilities. There is another movie on google video called "Loose Change 2nd Edtition" that deals with the 9/11 attacks. Thanks for sharing this video.

                Re: Watch this.

Here is the source list right on their website: http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/sources.htm.

Just out of curiosity, what was the song at the end of the movie? Music seems to be a thing the did not include in the source list.

EDIT: Nevermind, I've done some thinking. When the video stated that there'll be chips implemented into people, I thought it was absurd because no one in the right mind would have a chip that could track their every movement implemented into them. However, if the government starts to make rules that make it difficult for people to accomplish everything they need to do, such as: you can't drive if you don't get the chip, you can't travel if you don't get the chip, you can't work if you don't get the chip - it would just be simpler to just get the chip. The government is such a big powerful force that no single person will want to bother fighting it and plus, most people have the attitude: I don't do anything illegal, why would I care if I have a tracking chip or not? So yes, one day, it might be possible the chips will be implemented on people and we would consent to it.

Just trying to clear up some of my own confusion, but...

How could there be secular proof of Jesus being a prophet? I guess it depends on which definition of prophet we're using. If we're using this definition of prophet:

"A person regarded as, or claiming to be, an inspired teacher or leader."

then you are completely correct. But usually when I think of someone being a prophet, I think of something very different. The secular proof of Jesus being a "teacher or leader" doesn't really seem to have any religious significance. This religion could be completely false, yet he would still have the definition of a prophet.

                    Re: Watch this.

Um...He was regarded as, and claimed to be, an inspired teacher or leader. Therefore, he was a prophet, along with a very large number of people in that area at the time.

The religious significance was something that came after the fact, because people who -followed- his claimed to be inspired teaching and leadership described him as having been more divine than he ever claimed to be.

The definition of prophet you seem to want to use is "A prophet who has proven that their inspiration is genuine" of which I don't believe there are any.

The Earth's tilt "wobbles." This website explains it all pretty well: http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/env99/env202.htm

Basically, since the Earth's tilt wobbles, the sun ends up rising in different places in the horizon. Wikipedia explains the rest pretty well.
