But you have to understand that even though the rappers say "my bitches eat my hoes for suppa" or whatever, they are under a record deal that pays them to distribute their music into the world. Don Imus was speaking and representing MSNBC. He got fired because they didn't want him representing them like that. Even though it was just a slight racial slur, they didn't like that. "Nappy headed hoes with tattoos up their arms."
Sony Records puts out some terrible albums with songs about bitching and prostitution with their 3 baby in house shooting the nappy headed hos, but that is under their name.
By the way, who else noticed that the basketball team didn't take their jackets off during the Oprah Winfrey show?

About Howard Stern he's on satellite radio now so he can basically say almost anything he wants too.

Now about Don Imus, in my opinion no he should not have been fired based on what he said. The "racist comment" was disrespectful but not bad enough to get him fired. Freedom of speech is so greatly hindered on public radio.

What it comes down to is the money. As soon as the sponsors of the show said that they were going to stop advertising CBS finally took him off. I believe 100% that CBS were more concerned in keeping the advertisers to make money .. as soon as they left .. Don Imus had to be cut.

Well, if anything, given the hue and cry over this, it seems to me that a correct analogy is that Don Imus::Racial tension as straw::camel's back.

It looks like african-american communities are -finally- starting to realise that one of the main causes of racism, racial tension, and the prevalance of racial slurs in America is that they are paying african-american people millions of dollars to make a career out of degrading their own race.

I can't think of a single other ethnic group that seems to go so far out of its way to present itself as bigoted, sexist, crude, violent, criminal and obsessed with wealth and showing off wealth. The sooner it is made clear that their own people find what they're doing reprehensable, the sooner it can be put behind them.

Well, when they finally realise that guns are the major cause of gun violence, I'm just as happy having them go after people who own and use guns at the same time as they go after people who make and sell them.

If he was the catalyst, it stands to reason that he gets to go down with the ship.

I think its stupid to drop him for racial comments... look at rap music
don imus called them nappy headed ho's and rap music lyrics say all women are ho's and call them the B word... so why isnt Rap with racial remarks or other hurtful things toward specific groups of people banned? one person is gone for a small comment yet a large variety of music isnt... yes there are sensored versions but then again there arent...

my opinion is I think what he said was stupid but he is a comedian and all comedians do something to an extent to what he did, really I dont consider his comments racist its just nappy is associated with african americans but nappy knows no race, but anyway I think he didnt mean anything by his saying cause almost half of the team was white but anyway the producer also said some racist things and nothing happened to him, but that is just what I think, he should just apologize and realize what he said was stupid given america's society is a bunch of idiots and bigots.

I don't care if he's a major part of the media that can reach out to many. He's an old white guy who said a racial slur and so much of the black community is eager to appear wounded. Pathetic.
