Re: Why PC vs. Mac debates shouldn't exist

I use a mac at home, and a PC at school. There are things on both of them that i prefer/hate. On the mac, i hate that 1 button mouse that comes standard with the computer, (the keyboard is fine for me however, i just got a new Intel mac), problem solved by buying a logitech mouse. I also do not like the lack of a printscreen button, and the lack of UnrealEd on the Mac Version of UT2004. Other than that, my Mac fits my needs very well, Gaming and Artistic (Photoshop, Maya, 3D Studio Max, etc...). The PC also fits my school needs very well. It runs all of the Programs above, except the games, because its a school computer, but i can take the word of everyone else. PCs have a wider selection of games than the mac, they have a better command prompt, (i know windows code better than Unix XD). But, there are some things i do not like as well. Such as on the school computers, the system administrators locked everything up, so i can't access the uninstall feature. So when other people put loads of crap on the computer, i can't uninstall it without downloading something, because it puts files all over the place. Whereas in a mac, it puts it all into one place mostly, so you just have to delete one folder/application.

I have a preference for macs, but i really don't care which system i use.

I have a Desktop PC and a MacBook Pro Laptop. I prefer both because like most people say who have used both, they each have their merits.

I use my PC mainly for gaming and video editing, while on the other hand I use my Mac for music editing and school.

I know I'm being redundant by bringing up the same thing over, but each side has its great points and weak points.

Well that's not Linux specifically, that's whatever team is behind the particular build that you're using.

I guess I was partly wrong, but just because your build that you use is good about updating holes in security doesn't mean that all of them are.

There's nothing wrong with Macs except that 80% of the non-professional userbase couldn't operate a pulley without an instruction manual.

I think she's using the pulley as an expression because a pulley is a self-explanatory machine to operate.

              Zack: Shut up. It's funny.

I too like the Linux OS by itself, but it is terrible to get wma and wmv stuff working and the configuration is a bitch for video cards.
Linspire has MPlayer for Windows media files, and I have an older standard video card, and it works fine.
Ubuntu's good too, but then again, you do have the problem with configuring the media player.

Sorry, I should have said ATI Video cards The drivers ATI makes doesn't fully support OpenGL and the open source drivers aren't that good (other than the old cards, x1xxx isn't supported good).
