Having a laptop with both Windows and Mac on it and a desktop with Windows and Linux on it I have found that I prefer the Mac. It makes things like Video Chatting, IMing, checking email, and other things, easier and faster because it's all right there. Maybe I'm just used to it because I've been a Mac user for years beacause its what we used in my film class for forever.

So in other words, you're saying that Macs make things easier for simpletons? (Not that you're one, just going by the things you listed.)

Well if that were the case, a lot more people would have Macs, as 90% of the computer using world are idiots.

This is mostly true. Someone who is 100% unfamiliar with computers will probably have an easier time getting a mac to do what they wants.

Firefox would be better for computer illiterate people too. Do you see them using it? Hell no. To be blunt, they know so little about computers that they don't know they'd be better off with something else... Windows is what most people use and it's cheaper to use. No surprise in my mind that computer newbs would choose Windows over Mac most of the time, even though a lot of them would be better off with Mac.

I use both a mac and a windows machine and while I prefer my mac, I still find having a PC useful for certain things. My next computer will probably be a PC.

It's to the point where it doesn't matter what argument one makes, I am satisfied with the job my mac has done and I haven't had any troubles with it.

I've had pleanty of time to use both a Mac and a Windows computer.. I like how the Mac looks externaly but don't prefer the way it runs.. But with Windows (Since I've been using it since I was 6) I prefer just out ot habbit. Mice waise I don't prefer the single button.. Cuz I like my 2 + click wheel mouse. All in all my dream computer would be half way between the 2. (Maybe a great Windows computer sans problems + mac keyboard.)

I'll tell you guys why this argument is useless. Virtually everyone who partakes in this debate already owns one or the other, and 99% of the time, they're basing their information on the one they don't own on what they've HEARD. Asking which you prefer is basically asking which you own. From what I've heard from people who own both, both PCs and Macs have their pros and cons. I haven't heard anyone who owns both have a really strong preference.

Linux is better than both, anyway.
I run Linspire 4.5, and I'll probably be switching to the latest version of Ubuntu soon. You can get viruses and spyware on both Mac and Windows, but Linux is virtually virusless and spywareless.

That and the fact it's completely free.

Linux also has xgl,
but Linux is far more complicated to configure than windows, and mac is always ready to go.
I too like the Linux OS by itself, but it is terrible to get wma and wmv stuff working and the configuration is a bitch for video cards.

I use a Mac myself, and I prefer it over my old PC because I'm useless when it comes to fighting viruses, and there appears to be almost no viruses that affect a Mac. I've had it for a year and guess what? I haven't even seen a single virus!

Concerning the Mac mouse: I use an external laptop mouse instead. I found my hate for the Mac mouse the moment I placed my fingers on it.

I have had my computer now for about 2 years and have yet to see a virus. I just don't download a ton of random stuff and search for "free" porn.

I own a mac laptop and I would prefer to have a Windows based laptop if I had the choice. If I didn't play MapleStory, I probably wouldn't care about using a Mac system (talking desktop here), assuming the keyboard and mouse don't suck total ass like all of the old mac keyboards and mouses I've ever used. People keep saying that Apple makes mouses with enough buttons these days, and as long as the keys are the right size/position/feel it would be all gravy.

Do you even realize the things you say before you say them? Linux is probably even more open to viruses than Windows due to the fact that Windows always has updates and ****. The thing is that most programmers won't waste their time on a Linux virus because of how few people the virus would be able to affect. The same used to be able to be said about Mac, but I hear they get viruses sometimes now (or maybe that's just propaganda so that people will buy antivirus programs for Macs).

Similar thing happened with Firefox, too. Back before it was as popular, it used to block every popup and thing like that. Now, certain websites have methods of getting around FF's popup blocker, simply because FF is more commonly used now.

Debating is totally legit. Saying over and over "mac sucks no games rawr" and "windows viruses only good for spreadsheets or something lol" is just stupid. Debate the merit of each system; do not simply state that the other one is worthless, because obviously each system has it's own good points.

ps I think someone mentioned that their perfect OS would be halfway between Windows and OSX. Check out Vista. That's about as close as you'll get, I'd say.

My best OS would definitely be Mac-based, but supports computer games, and has MS Paint.

YES, MS PAINT. For once you've used Photoshop enough the way I do, you will want to try CGing something in Paint.

Plus, isometric pixel art is easier in Paint.

Partly true and partly false.

Indeed, the main reason Linux has no viruses is probably because nobody cares to make any. BUT, most versions of Linux are updated constantly. Every day my little exclamation mark goes off.

I think that even if people bothered to make viruses for Linux, it would still fare better than Windows.
