    Would you take the fame?

Alright, this 20 year old posted this on you tube awhile back, only showing his first name and the person who arranged the song. He plays Canon in d major SO well that he can transpose it into D minor in the middle of the song. Granted, if the music is arranged you can play it, but this kid is so effing awesome that 20-20 went looking for him.

    Here he is:

So anyway, it took 20-20 quite awhile to track this dude down. It turns out that he is Japanese going to college in Austrailia or something. 20-20 questioned him right...told him he could become famous...play for a band or something...showed him all of the scolarships to badass music schools he could go to...told him he could go to hollywood.....AN HE REFUSED. His reason was that he just liked playing the guitar and he did not want any people to bother him. He just sits at home and plays the guitar all day, and is not in a band, does not want a producer, doesn't want anything.

I am like WTF you just got offered to be payed money to show the world what you can do, and you don't want anything?

If it's not what he wants, it's not what he wants. There are hobbies that I'm very good at and enjoy very much, but if I had to make a living out of them I'd probably kill myself. Some things just aren't made for a person to do forever.

I would have taken the opertunity. Life's all about opertunities, and which ones to take.

Myself, I probably would have taken the opportunity.

Not for the fame, or the money. I'd take the opportunity just to show people what can happen if you stick to something you like.

I wouldn't have done it either. Fame brings too much attention to yourself.

I agree with JKPolk. I'd never try to get a career with some of my hobbies. It'd completely ruin them for me, making them a chore rather than something fun and interesting to do in your spare time.

Without looking at the vid, I'm assuming its JerryC?

edit: Okay so the guy's name is "funtwo" but it was arranged by JerryC. I was half right. Anyway, I watched the video a few times and was totally impressed. As of now, that's the skill level I wish to achieve one day, no matter how many hours of continuous practice may be involved in the process.

He obviously wants some sort of fame, or else he wouldnt have made the video, correct? His modesty shows by saying he just wants to sit home and play...but with skills like that, he knows he's great and he had to show it off, which isn't a bad thing cause if you've got it flaunt it. So, even though he may claim he desires to just remain at home without any attention and play by himself, he wants a minimal amount of fame, which he created by making the video.

Why make your life complicated if you can be just fine keeping it nice and simple? I am certainly willing to bet its more peaceful to play on your own in your spare time than to be forced to play for fame.

I would have done it, but everyone has their own opinion. I can understand him not wanting the fame.

Well it's that simple. If he doesn't want to become famous then he doesn't have to. I'm sure he probably has other things to do with his life and doesn't want to mold his life around guitar. But jeez, if I were him I'd accept that.

Funtwo performed this in front of a crowd. In a concert.

He has already done so by posting a video of himself on youtube. He received no money and youtube fame doesn't go too far in life.

There is a HUGE difference between the "fame" you get by posting a video on youtube and the fame you get while being in a major band. If you stood him next to one of the remaining Beatles, you can be damn sure that there would be FAR less people crowding around him asking for an autograph, a picture, or anything else people ask celebrities for. Guitar is simply a hobby for him. One that he is particularly good at. This doesn't mean he wants to be forced to play all the time or that he wants people to come up to him and suck his dick because he can play well.

                          20/20 "tracked him down"?

As I recall, the NYTimes found him months ago.

I turned down an opertunity to go to the olympics and compete.

I guess the thing is, you need to find meaning in your life. If something doesn't mean anything to you, for example fame, then it isn't desirable no matter how much someone else might think it is.

He just looks like a guy that enjoys what he's doing.
