Re: The Apocalypse is getting Ready.

Hoo-ra, the end is just what we need.

Global warming is nothing, it's propoganda...like Blitzkrieg. Now, if all the ice caps didn't melt a few hundred years agp when the earth was many times hotter than it is today, then why are they melting now?

I feel the earth is going to end due to some idiot phsyco who gets in charge and causes a nuclear war. I don't care if people say "Oh thats what every one thinks!". Thats what I think is going to happen.

Re: The Apocalypse is getting Ready.

Tomgirl, apparently you and many others in this environmentalist circle jerk are hopelessly uninformed, so let me help you out.

The earth is warming. There is no doubt about that. Gradually, our oceans are heating, our ice is melting. This is confirmed fact.

Unfortunately for you and Greenpeace, that's about as much as we're able to prove. It's true that we're destroying our Earth. We're cutting down trees, killing animals and increasing emissions. However, we flatter ourselves to believe that roughly 200 years of human industrialization is capable of affecting our global ecology, and in such a severe and immediate manner. The Earth does go through periodic climate changes, with the last ice age taking place about 20,000 years ago. We've enjoyed the last 20,000 years as a period of relatively calm and stable climate; unfortunately for us, the time is ripe for another period of warming.

The question isn't whether or not the Earth is warming. It's whether or not we're causing it, and if not, what we are able to do about it. The answer, unfortunately, is beyond our reach at this time. Go ahead and ban every industrial facility off the face of the earth; it won't make a damn difference. The Earth will still continue to warm. Are we accelerating that process? Perhaps. But until you environmentalists learn to stop running around screaming at the top of your lungs about the end of the world and provide consistant, credible scientific evidence, the rest of us aren't likely to listen to you- hell, the church has been predicting the end of the world for the last 2000 years, and look how far that got them.

We are speeding it up the natural process, this isn't hard to prove since it quite obvious, question is by how much. Based on comparisons from prior spikes, this one is abnormal because of how fast it is. So one would assume that we are nudging it along. Of course we can't look too far back with a good accuracy, so again we are at stand off of what ifs or what nots.

As for stopping all emissions this instant, it wouldn't matter because the process already gained momentum, sort of like an avalanche.

For every action, there is reaction.

Re: The Apocalypse is getting Ready.

I watch the National Geographic channel all the time. They had a show on yesterday about Revelation and Armegeddon.

It has been predicted that Revelation will happen on Dec. 21 of 2012 I think. But I highly doubt it because it has been predicted many times before and those dates have come and gone with no appearance by Christ. Christ does not want us to predict his time of return so I'm guessing he's going to make a more dramatic surprise entrance if he does at all. I find the idea of Revelation kind of scary. I mean, horsemen are coming to unleash death, earthquakes, disease, etc. I think I heard something about a seven headed monster as well. As if the antichrist himself wasn't bad enough. I've also heard theories about mass persecutions of Jews and that the final battle between the armies of Christ and the antichrist will take place in this valley where several battles have been fought before by people such as Napoleon. I can't think of the name of the valley, though. I think I heard about the dead being resurrected, too. We're all going to be supposedly judged on that day and as long as you're a follower of Jesus it's all good. But the important thing is that good will ultimately triumph and the antichrist will be defeated...If any of this ever happens at all. But don't take my word on all of that because I'm no expert on it and I may be wrong on some parts.

As far as the end of the world goes, it's pretty much inevitable that the Earth will be destroyed in my opinion. The sun is halfway through its life and it will die in 500 billion years. As the sun goes it will swell and consume several planets including our own so you might as well be cremated when you die.
It is also true that we are overdue for an ice age and that the ice is melting due to global warming. I've heard our futures mainly rest in the hands of China and India over that matter.
I think meteors pose a big threat to our planet as well. There is a huge one headed in our direction that is expected to be here somewhere between 2020 and 2030. Most likely it will miss us as it's only a 1 in 60ish chance. But hey, it happened to the dinosaurs.
And what about oil? It is going to run out eventually and so far we have no alternatives that I'm aware of.

Yeah I have watched that show alot of times, and we really dont know when we are going down. They only think 12/12/2012 because the Mayan's calander only went up to that time. Alot of people thought y2k was the end but here we are still on this place called Earth.

I'm no environmentalist, but the smog conditions found in some areas is proof there is something wrong. And last time I checked, the o-zone layer does not create a natural hole upon itself. Maybe it does. Either way I live in the area where the hole is. It causes some incredibly hot summers.

But overall I remain on the fence. We probably aren't creating global warming, but we are doing something wrong. I said this before in another post, There is so much carcinogens in Sydney, Austrailia, that it's equivalent to smoking ten cigarettes a day.

Either way, to be completely for global warming theory, or against is ridiculous since no one knows the true answer. It's just nice to be safe and develop more environmentally friendly technologies, or modify current technology to be more efficient. Search on Google for the SmILE. Greenpeace (I'm not too fond of them) took an existing car and halved the fuel consumption while keeping the performance the same. However I still find it unfeasible considering the dramatic costs to probably make that car in mass production. But it's just interesting how we have the technology.

I guarantee you that whoever told you that is a complete and raving lunatic, as are you for believing that crap. 10 cigarettes a day... honestly, that just sounds stupid. Say it out loud without laughing. Seriously. You should be ashamed of yourself for getting sucked into a obviously false buzzstatement like that.

Jokes on you though. It's true.

I think mexico city (or is it mumbai?) has the worlds worst air, and it's equivalent to smoking more than that many cigarettes a day. Seoul, Beijing and a lot of other cities have the exact same problem.

'Mexico City has 7.8 million vehicles and 50,000 factories, which release 24 thousand tonnes of pollutants per year.[1]This has resulted in the city having the world's highest Ozone and Carbon Monoxide levels'

'99% of days exceed safety levels'

'Since December the city government has twice declared pollution emergencies in which, for the first time, the chief cause was not ozone but dismal clouds of particles. Schoolchildren were required to stay indoors and vehicles with dirty engines were barred from the streets. Health Ministry surveys showed that within a week after the highest particle levels were registered, fully half of the metropolis's 18 million residents became sick with some respiratory ailment. '

'breathing the air for a day in mexico city or Delhi was worse than smoking 2 packs of cigarettes'

You do realize that all of that stuff coming out of powerplants, factories, old cars ect is poison?

That and the sewage has gone through some severe problems from dumping, and is so toxic a lot of streams could kill you if you drank it, or even homeless people sleeping near them have developed severe health problems.

As for global warming not being effected by us...well

Take a look at the present CO2 level in this diagram

                          LOOKS REALLY NATURAL DOESN"T IT?

                          similar picture

''The detailed causes of this change remain an active field of research, but the scientific consensus identifies greenhouse gases as the primary cause of the recent warming''

                          Get with the program
