A CT Survey on Gay Tolerance

    Sexuality Survey

This is a personal project of mine: to find out how tolerant the modern world is of sexuality. The following questions are not meant to put any individual 'on the spot', but merely to see how open-minded or how traditional you guys are. Answer only the questions you feel comfortable answering.

    1. General
    - What is...
    a) Your first name:
    b) Your country and province/state (if applicable):
    c) Your age:
    d) Your gender:
    e) Your sexuality:
    f) Your religion:
    g) Your ethnicity:

    2. History

    a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify)
    b) Did you grow up with a religious family?
    c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small?
    d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic?
    e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans?
    f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality?
    g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality?

    3. Present Time

    a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now?
    b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?)
    c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react?
    d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling?
    e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place?

    4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

    a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is?
    b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else?
    c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples?
    d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?)
    e) Why did you choose take this survey?

Re: A CT Survey on Gay Tolerance

    1. General
    - What is...
    a) Your first name: Andrew (necessary?)
    b) Your country and province/state (if applicable): Texas
    c) Your age: 22
    d) Your gender: Male
    e) Your sexuality: Straight
    f) Your religion: Catholic
    g) Your ethnicity: White

    2. History

    a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify) Small city
    b) Did you grow up with a religious family? Yes
    c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small? Immediate family: 5 (7 with in-law and nephew). But, my (enormous) extended family is really close.
    d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? Tolerant.
    e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? My mom has a cousin and I have a second cousin who are gay.
    f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? Never met them (they kind of left the family; whether that was by their own choice or by their families' pressure I don't know)
    g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Yes.

    3. Present Time

    a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Two fellow pledges and a friend I don't see very often.
    b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) Erm, see above.
    c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? Wouldn't bother me.
    d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They'd be disappointed that that member wouldn't be giving them grandchildren/nieces/nephews, but otherwise they'd be pretty accepting.
    e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? I had one very homophobic suitemate, and it's probably more prevalent in other circles of people whom I care not to hang out with.

    4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

    a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? No idea.
    b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? No idea.
    c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? I'd vote against it, but it should be a states' rights issue (unless the will of the people is circumvented).
    d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) It's not natural.
    e) Why did you choose take this survey? Uh, it was here.

            c) Your age: 19
            d) Your gender: Male
            e) Your sexuality: straight
            f) Your religion: Atheist
            g) Your ethnicity: white

            2. History

            a) Did you grow up in a large city, small city, large town, small town, rural area, or other? (If other, please specify) small city
            b) Did you grow up with a religious family? absolutely not
            c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small? medium, or whatever 4 counts as.
            d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? They're tolerant.
            e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? My brother's friend, and a friend of mine from high school gay and bi, respectively.
            f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? No.
            g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Yes, but it definitely isn't going to change, and I've known that for a long time.

            3. Present Time

            a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Not really.
            b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) N/A

            e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? Not that I'm aware of.

            4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

            a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? Well, this is probably wrong, but I came up with it's a survival thing. Similar to how lemmings jump off cliffs if their population gets too high, the higher the human population gets, the higher percentage of them are gay.
            b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? It's not a choice, and they can't be cured, and there's really nothing wrong with it, I'm not sure what it is.
            c) What is your opinion on gay marriage and/or adoption by gay couples? It's a good thing, because it's better than someone with no parents.
            d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) It's so highly embedded in our culture that marriage is, "A union between a man and a woman."
            e) Why did you choose take this survey? To express my opinion.

              b) Did you grow up with a religious family?: No.
              c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small?: Small.
              d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic?: Homophobic.
              e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans?: A handful of bis.
              f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality?: OH NO THEIR SEXUALITY IS GOING TO EAT ME

              ps No.
              g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality?: "Can one plus one equal three?" I like what I like, I want what I want. If I wanted to be aroused by males then I'm sure nothing would stop me.

              3. Present Time

              a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now?: Yes, a handful of bis.
              b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?): Close friends.

              4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

              a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is?: DNA, personal choice.
              b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else?: what

Most people aren't successful with straight, so they look for alternatives. Others are gay naturally.
              c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples?: As for marriage, I really don't care. Marriage is far too overdramatized in general, if you ask me. As for adoption, I think it should be left to the child. I personally would not enjoy having the stereotypical gay/lesbian parent, but if they don't let it consume their lifestyle, I'd be completely fine with it.

oh hey that was a long answer wasn't it
              d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?): People don't like things that are different.
              e) Why did you choose take this survey?: BECAUSE I CARE

                e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? Yes.

                4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

                a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? A need to try something new, get away from conforming.
                b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? I believe its a choice that people make when they are confused about many different things, whenever someone says "i was born gay" i tell them bull**** because no one is born with that kind of set mind
                c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? I think gays should not have the right to be married, marriage is between a man and a women for the sole purpose of raising a decent family, that sacred bond should not be defiled by some abomination
                d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Because it is as i said, it is an abomination of the mind and should be shunned, but because people have the right to choose as they please, they are allowed to do go on with such evil practices.
                e) Why did you choose take this survey? Because i feel that people should hear the opposing side to the arguement, even though you are all going to think i am a stubborn ignorant person who is not accepting of new ideas

                      d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? not a clue
                      e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? If hatred counts then yes

                      4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

                      a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? An after effect of being imperfect people and not knowing how to fix internal problems, but rather embracing them
                      b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? 100% choice
                      c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? It is a stupid idea. I can see why governments accept it but religions accepting it is a total copout and a complete avoidance of true teachings of the Bible
                      d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) It's not something natural and therefore isn't tolerated since it's not normal. As time progresses, people will become more and more acceptant of such acts and it will no longer affect people.
                      e) Why did you choose take this survey? I didn't read many other people's surveys but being homosexual is such a digusting thing. If religions held to their own teachings, it wouldn't exist because people would fear isolation. But once it becomes accepted practice, more and more will ignore it. Sounds dense and cold but that's how I feel.

                            c) Is your home family (parents and siblings) a large family, or small?: Small, my mom moved out so I live with my dad and my sister now.
                            d) Would you say your family is more tolerant of different sexual orientations, or more homophobic? Sister is alright, parents are homophobic.
                            e) Is there anyone in your family, or among old friends, who is gay/bi/lesbian/trans? I am gay, and my cousin is gay also.
                            f) If yes, have you ever felt threatened by their sexuality? No, I was threatened by others about my sexuality.
                            g) Have you ever questioned your own sexuality? Yes, and I finally decided I was a homosexual and I came out to everyone about a month ago.

                            a) Are there any homo/bi/transexuals in your life right now? Yes, people I meet up with from online and friends at school who came out after I did.
                            b) If yes, how do they relate to you? (Close friends, acquaintances, family, etc?) Close friends, online relationships? Potential boyfriends?
                            c) Hypothetically, if your best friend came out to you as gay/bi/les/trans, how would you react? I wouldn't really care, nothing has changed about that person, just they are being more honest with themselves.
                            d) How do you think your family would react if they found out they had a gay child/sibling? They would crack, especially from the pressure and stress of the current divorce.
                            e) Is homophobia present in your school and/or work place? Yes, very much so.

                            4. Opinions/Deeper thinking

                            a) What would you say the cause of homosexuality is? You are born with it, it is the same as your ethnicity, you can't change it.
                            b) Do you believe it is something that can be cured, like a disease; a disorder that can’t be cured, but can be slowed down; a genetic imbalance; a choice; or something else? That is an imoral question. Homosexuality IS NOT A DISEASE and it is labeled so by society. That is like calling an Asian diseased.
                            c) What is your opinion on gay marraige and/or adoption by gay couples? It's cool with me, everyone should have equal rights in the world, no matter what sexuality they have.
                            d) Why do you think there is so much homophobia in the world? (Religion, culture, tradition, health, etc?) Christian faith has become so powerful. They decide to look down upon things that are different or "prove a threat" to their faith so they decide to "take things into their own hands" to try and bash the gays/lesbians.
                            e) Why did you choose take this survey? It helps me thinking back on my situation as a homosexual. Really, it does.
