alternate universes what do you think?

Ok ill try to lay out the current theory on this as best I can. There are four different types of alternate universes, stages 1-4. The first stage would be basically another solar system like ours, life, a sun so on. second would be like ours but with very minute details that are different, for example there might be nine planets in our solar system still but due to the random particle placement that is an inherent part of the big bang theory, Saturn would be before Jupiter. the third is that there is an alternate universe for every possible outcome in any and all situations, such as you are reading this now, but in the alternate universe you would have said "screw this..." and walked away, and so on. The fourth is by far the most complicated where there are the most confusing, each different universe has a completely different set of physical properties, like sound travels faster than light in all mediums, or galaxies are in the shape of cubes instead of disks. Oh and to make this even more complicated each universe contains all of the previous stages, so stage four contains stages 1-3 also.

please leave any comments or theories of your own here I’d like to here others opinions on this subject.

The theory behind Critical Thinking is for you to give up your thoughts and opinions along with a topic. Or to pose questions that you are unsure about that deal with college level or above issues and those of us who are wise to that subject will answer and help out.

So if you wouldn't mind giving a bit more? Then again, I also don't think you'll get much a reaction on this subject, as I'd make a strong wager that just about nobody here will believe in any sort of alternate universe.

I believe that an alternate universe (if not many) exists.

Although I have no capability whatsoever to guess on what type of universe it is, I do believe that they are real. The main basis to my belief is that there are 4 main forces. Electromagnetic, Strong, Weak, and Gravity. All four of these forces should be equal because it is believed that all four were originally derived from one ultimate force. Then the Big Bang (or some other event) occured breaking the force into four forces. Where the Weak, Strong, and Electromagnetic forces are all equal, Gravity is incredibly weak compared to the other three. For example: the strong force that holds matter together, resists the force of falling objects very easily. The belief that there are gravitons, a particle which is responsible for creating gravity. They are currently researching and trying to find the hypothesized particle. The belief is that these gravitrons have the capability to phase in and out of universes/realities, meaning that the force of gravity extends past our own dimension and is in effect in the others as well. Gravity is as strong as the other 3 forces but its influence is spread out much more, making it seem weaker.

This is why I think alternate universes/other dimensions exist. I do understand that there are many what-ifs and undetermined aspects of all of this. But It doesn't hurt to believe in something that doesn't make perfect sense. To me it makes enough sense. But It may still be wrong.

There is no reasoning behind saying there is only 4. Personally i think we are just here and thats all your going to get. We might as well try getting farther into our universe before thinking about a place we cant get to.

You're hypothesizing about things before the Big Bang; this is worthless. There is no way to follow anything logically from before the Big Bang to after it.

I wouldn't take a word of any hypothesis to be true or anywhere near remotely true until the graviton is found. Wacky and often very wrong explanations are found before the correct one is. Take the ether, for example.

Which is it? Is it weak or is it the same? The gravitational force IS weaker, though. Whether it be two subatomic particles or two massive (but still charged) particles, the electromagnetic force is going to be greater. They both trail off with the square of the distance, but the gravitational constant is far smaller.

This is why I think alternate universes/other dimensions exist. I do understand that there are many what-ifs and undetermined aspects of all of this. But It doesn't hurt to believe in something that doesn't make perfect sense. To me it makes enough sense. But It may still be wrong.

Whatever works for you. I personally don't believe in alternate universes because there's no scientific evidence for it (and if someone tries to bring up string theory, they're getting e-punched).

As such, I may still be wrong, too, but it's really just a craps shoot.

Trying to read all of that confused me. Maybe for each stadge you could put in a seperate paragraph, so it's easier to read. Also did you personally come up with these theroies? Or are they another person's ideas?

they are theories from some scientific magazine i had to read in SAt prep class. I forget witch one but there was alot more to all of them, i put it as simply as i could while trying not to be confuseing, and putting in all the info i remembered.

I have a theory:

If there are parallel universes, then they would have alternate timelines. That must mean that there are an infinite amount of timelines, or universes, for every single possible event that could occur. However, it gets more complicated then that. The amount of possible timelines increases exponentially as time goes on. Even hesitating for a thousand of a millisecond to take a walk could trigger an alternate timeline to emerge. Timelines will include the aftereffects of any event, no matter how improbable they are, such as an apple turning into uranium or a piece of antimatter the size of a brick crashing into Saturn. Of course, these are extreme examples of "Nothing is impossible," but still, you should be able to get the picture.

P.S. Yes, I have read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series. Also, a lot of people definitely came up with the same idea. Probably.
