Re: Does death scare anybody else?
For me,
I am afraid of dying before i get old. This is my only fear in the death topic for me because when i get old i will be like...ok im old now i've done all this really awsome stuff now and there are no "what could have been" things still lying around.
mkay, have a great day.
p.s. I only read first two pages so don't hate on me if topic went in a different direction...Comment

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
I haven't read a single damn post in this thread <3
So I'll just say this. Do you know how life was before you were born? All those years passed and you just kinda weren't there? I assume that's what happens when you die. It just isn't there anymore.
I wouldn't worry about it. There's no need to worry about something you have no control over. I believe in heaven and hell as just being things that people say to try to make life better for the nicer people and to scare the not-so-nice people. If anything, I believe you just reincarnate. With your memory gone, of course.
Also, I'm not terribly afraid of death because I think it'd be much nicer to do nothing all of the time rather than work most of your life. If you no longer feel the need to do anything, things are much better.Last edited by ToshX; 01-6-2007, 08:34 PM.Comment

I think if you are going to keep writing like that then you should leave critical thinking and never come back. At least try to make a complete thought that INCLUDES proper grammar and spelling.
In any case, the most pointless thing to do in life is to sit there and be scared of death because its coming no matter what. You might as well just accept the fact that eventually you are going to die so you should use the time you have to your best benefit.

I agree slipstrike. Have fun with the time that is given to you. If all you do is fear death you'll be paranoied for the rest of your life. There is a 50% chance your pillow will eat you while you are sleeping.Comment

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
well, replying with the thread name....
The way i see it is, since we have no(how do i put this...) recollection of the past, when we aren't born yet or in better terms, not alive, you never feel or see anything at all. So why would dying, or again, cease to exist, why wouln't it be any different then before you were born. So, in conclusion, my opinion would be that there would be black and no rememberance of anything for all eternity.

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
I don't believe in a heaven or a hell. I believe once we die, we die. We have one life. We are just another species of animals, and if they don't go to some special place then neither do I. Therefore, my life is precious and I will live it as far as I see fit.
But does death scare me? It depends. What scares me more than death is living to a point where I can't make my own decisions anymore. Basically, if you notice people sometimes live to a point that takes them back to childhood, and I don't mean that in a positive way. Living seems a little scarier at that point.
Anyway I'm wandering off topic. No I'm not afraid of death...assuming I am not being tortured and violated in the process. I love life, but at the same time it could end at any moment. It will end at some point. I realize that, and I accept it.The weight of what I say depends on how you feel.Comment

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
if you wanna know what its like to be dead think about what it was like before you were born. you cant, because there is nothing to actually think about.
what you are experiencing is called "the will to live"Comment

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
A while ago death scared me, but now I seriously laugh in the face of it. Death does not bother me, I'm young, but I'm already ready to die. Whenever, I don't care. It's how I die that scares me. Getting shot in the head wouldn't be bad, drowning wouldn't be that bad eighter, but still worse. Nope, I just don't want to be tortured before I die. As long as it's quick, and somewhat painless I'm not worried.Comment

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
The fact that I don't know exactly what is going to happen to me when I die, makes my life a bit more exciting. Instead of worrying and pondering over death: when it's going to happen, how it's going to happen, where we go afterwards; I just let the thought go and live my life to the fullest. The only thing I keep in mind is that I will die, it's natural and you can't stop it from happening, and since I know this, I have a better reason to do what I want in life.

Re: Does death scare anybody else?
There was a time when I feared death. It was a very strong fear, however, depending on your personal beliefs, could be a very easy fear to rid yourself of. I have my own ideas about the world and how it works. I don't accept any established religion. I don't know what happens when you die, but I do know what happens while you're alive. Whatever you choose.
In my opinion death is the end of a very long adventure. No matter what happens, whether there is some kind of afterlife, or there is nothing, there is only one constant, and that constant is what you choose to do with the time you DO have. If you die and there's nothing, then the point of life is to experience as much as you can while you ARE alive.
On the other hand, if there is an afterlife, the choices you made during your life determine whether you're content in the afterlife, or you go on forever with regret.
No matter what happens in death, the important thing is to live while you're here, rather than spending so much time thinking about death. You're alive. Live your life and build towards personal contentment, and you'll have nothing to fear from the afterlife, if there is one.Comment
