But really, there really aren't a lot of emos left because the majority of people who bash emos used to be emo but quickly jumped on the "i hate emos" bandwagon when it became cooler than being emo itself.
True.
Emo is pretty much dead.
Not really. The "scene" fad and "emo" fad is still big around where I am..unfortunately.
Same here. Well, you are from New Jersey, and I am to, so I guess the emo fad is a New Jersey thing :P
Well, to all of the people that said emofags have no real problems, and that they're just making up problems and whatnot, they do have problem(s).
They:
1. Constantly want attention.
2. Want to be 'cool.'
3. Want to be someone that thet aren't.

Well Hawaii must be really behind the times, because just recently (at the start of this school year), there seemed to be an explosion of emofags.
I think we all need to get a little bit more libertarian on this subject. Why are you sick of what others are doing? Are they affecting you, or harming you? I like to imagine a world where people can define who they want to be, even if they are followers. Why is this such a terrible idea?

Yes, This is only my second post on the forums, but, how is this ACTUALLY critical thinking? Sounds more like a matter of opinion to me (besides the arguing of his point, which is also influenced by opinion.) But, that's just me. The forum nooblet.

Well, I will admit, I thought this was more of a chit chat topic when I first saw it, but I guess it could be critical thinking. We are discussing how emo people are and how the fad is crazy, you could say.
All the people at my school (including me) who get smashed by essay after essay in difficult classes - never get depressed. It's weird. Just a trend I noticed at my school. o_O
Busy people don't have the time to get depressed. Sure, they might have a breakdown, but that's different.
People who are busy learn to budget their time well. They won't procrastinate as much because they realize there is no way they can do everything the day before it is due. It's the people who aren't busy that you have to watch out for. These are the kids who will smoke, do drugs, drink, become emo, play way too much video/computer games, eat too much, etc.
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. How many perfectly healthy people do you know have breakdowns? Emotional or otherwise? In fact, it is the busiest of people who often suffer from depression. Stress is a big factor in depression, anxiety, stress/panic attacks, etc.
As a person who was diagnosed bi-polar at a young age, I have been on medications on/off for going on 8-9 years now. I suffer from periodic panic attacks, and occasionally one will be bad enough to cause my muscles to hurt for days as a result of my muscles locking and causing a almost paralysis-like state for 30+ seconds. As a Theatre major, I am under amazing amounts of stress. I am very busy, and have many things to do each day and not enough time in which to do them. It makes me sick that there are people out there who act like they know what it is like to suffer from something you cannot control. I am not saying that life is against me, or everyone hates me. I know I have friends who love me. I know my family will take care of me. I love my life. But there are some who don't have the opportunity to take medication to balance them out. Some live in chronic pain and suffering....and no amount of work or propmtly-turned-in assignments is going to make a depressed person's life better.
I beg of you....think before you type. Or at least do some research.

Wow. Tolerance. Amazing. I am sure you would be fine with some "emo kid" saying something to the effect of "It's okay to be happy, but NOT to wear polo shirts."
And I am really glad that it is okay with you to be depressed. Thanks for that.
REMOVE HEAD FROM SPHINCTER, THEN TYPE.

Bumping a thread and not adding anything of use to a discussion, bravo.

I thought I added quite a bit.....at least it wasn't a "Man, I really hate those emo kids" comment again. I am sorry, I thought these forums were meant for critical thinking.

SHUT THE FU*K Up swedish_fish GOD DAM IT ypu obviosly know nothing about EMO you stupid fuck
i swear to god i will see you in hell (if you havent guessed it yet im an EMO dumb ass) y dont you ppl leave us alone all you do is make fun of us WE DONT CARE sooo go fuck your selfs
I would quote myself, but that would be stupid. Again, I think we all need to be a little bit more libertarian on this subject. Let people be who they want to be. As long as they leave the water pure, I have no problem with any of it.
That's interesting, but doesn't add anything. When you say you are emo, do you mean you listen to My Chemical Romance and enjoy it, or that you pretend to be depressed and back out of cutting yourself at the last second because you aren't really depressed? Because most of us are talking about the latter emo, I think.
I don't mind emo's, as long as they don't go above and beyond to prove that they are depressed. If one of my friends came up to me and said, "hey, I just heard of this awesome emo fad. I'm gonna bandwagon and dress like them!" I'd be slightly disappointed they were joining a fad, but I wouldn't care that much. If they came up to me and said, "I'm emo now, and I just got back from cutting myself. Look, see the mark? SEE IT? I'm depressed, you know. My life sucks." I would be angry with them.
It all depends on how far they take it, in my view.
I think that the whole “emo” thing is fine by me. I don’t disagree. I don’t agree. I don’t get involved. I generally don’t care. I will be me. You will be you. I care about myself generally. I understand that sounds self absorbed. However, I see it this way. I have my own worries. I can’t help anyone out when my heart is cold from my own problems to give warmth to others. It’s sad but it’s true. I’d love to help others. I can’t with what I have now. I must sort myself out in order to help others. So if society calls me a punk, a ***, emo, skater, chav, biscuit, pen or whatever. I pretend to care long enough to make people think I give a shit about what they think I am to stop them from bugging me. I have enough to worry about. At the end of the day, I summarize things like this…….
It’s not your problem, as it is not your life. Why moan, it won’t change anything. Stop worrying about there lives and get own with your own.
