Is survival a loophole of morality?

I got inspired to make this thread from a conversation I had with someone on another site...

So what do you guys think? I'll post what I think later when I have more time. :P

Wow...heh. I never thought of it that way. I suppose it's human nature to survive any way possible. Any way possible. Some may resort to cannibalism or may not. It's interesting to think of it like that. I suppose all morals are lost when your main concern is survival.

not a chance of that for me. I LOVE LIVING and i will do anything to protect my time on this earth. i have very very little faith in there being life after this one, so there isn't a chance that i will risk shortening my time here.


edit: unless the prostitute is fat/ugly. then fire away. one of those $500 an hour ladies of the night, i'm down with that. probably even most of the $100 a trick ones. you get much under that and you know you're getting some shady goods.

Depends how many STDs the hooker has. If it's 0 and she's a hot'n, I'd have a go. Otherwise, it would be interesting getting shot. But extremely painful.

And survival is a loophole in morality only if you have strong morals, and some interesting ones at that.

Survival probably came first, evil. Humans had probably developed a sense of morality over time. People couldn't have just said this is good this is bad and that's all there is to it all of a sudden.

I love living, too, and I'm going to do the best I can to preserve my life and make the most of it. But I'm not going to do anything that might jeopardize what comes after.

If it's morality or survival, I pick morality. It's only stupid if you don't believe in a world after this one.

I mean, animals don't have morals. If they're starving they'll eat each other. Humans created ethics and morals, and they get in the way of our survival at times. Like, a person may die for their children because to them it seems the right thing to do. If a wild animal died for their children, it would be saving them to ensure survival of their species. Humans don't think like that. We think on what is right or wrong, which can mess up our natural self-saving instincts.

So yeah, I flipped it just fine, I just didn't explain myself.

survival is a loophole in morality in my opinion I mean tell me if you and your sibling (of oppisite sex) were the last 2 human beings in the universe. Would you not try and reproduce to repopulate the planet? I mean look in the bible adam and eve were made from 2 ribs from the almightys own body that makes them siblings techniqly and they populated the plaet if i rember correctly that there is a flaw in morality in its self

If my hermanita and I were the only two left on the planet? No. Why? I know that with all the inbreeding, there would be too few a change in the genes to ever hope for human survival after 200 years.

Sure, I'm all for God, too, but I also enjoy this life. I'll do many things to stay alive. I don't know my limits,though. I've never tested them.
