I'd just knee the guy really hard in the abdomen, then push him back right after, so that he ends up stumbling a bit. Stumbling pisses off people who want to kick your ass. =D

Wrestling. Only way to end the fight without serious injuries.

        Intimidation can do wonders.
If they think they might get their ass kicked. They very well might.

That's just what I've heard. The fights I've been in never lasted that long

While I am tempted to list off a few flashy kung-fu styles, in a real street fight, the best style is the "Use Your Environment To Your Advantage" style.

          But Karate helps alot.

Anyways, yeah. I started taking Karate, the art of self-defense, when I was 10 years old. It wasn't hard on the body (aka the sensei didn't beat you into total exhaustion), it didn't take complete dedication, you just learned and practiced. While I never felt myself really changing, as I got to higher and higher ranks I realized I was begging the sensei for 25 more push-ups during warmup, I could almost jump over my little brother (standing up), and that I could actually spar and beat that tall asian guy that was two years older than me. Also, while I was waiting for my class to start, they had some fantastic books on advanced pressure points, and japanese stories about old wise men outwitting young and foolish fighters (each with it's own Confucius moral about avoiding fights when you can!).
But then, of course, Middle School happened, and suddenly Karate was eating away at my homework time. I had to quit right before I got my black belt before my grades fell too much. Now I'm a lazy geek with not half the strength nor stamina I used to have.

But anyways, the moral is, Karate is fantastic and everyone should do it, because it will make you a very happy ninja. And senseis are really cool people.

Oh, and the philosophy of fighting? I've tried to figure out what that is, but I came to the conclusion that there is no philosophy. Fighting is fighting, the (arguably) simplest part of human nature.

I do understand what you're saying, I just don't know what to say.

My favourite kind of fight is the one where I run away.

I love fighting in all its forms, and I think about it a lot. It's really a shame that I've never been in a real fight, nor do I think I ever will be, despite my great desire. Getting into fights is a bad idea, which is why I don't start them, but sure could be fun.

The reason I don't think I'll ever be in a fight is that I think I could do much more damage and win more with only my words. Especially if other people are around, if you come out as the good guy, you usually win in the eyes of everyone else.

The way I look at it is this: if you keep a cool head yourself, but still end up getting into a fight, then your opponent is usually angered and/or otherwise heavily emotion-driven. Due to that, some choice words that push the right buttons (e.g. words of embarassment or taunting) might make him flip his wig and do something stupid. The bottom line is, don't give your opponent the satisfaction of doing what he wanted to do, or, if he does kick you around a bit, turn him into the bad guy and play on his insecurities. Words are mighty weapons.

If I actually have to get down and fight for some strange reason, I'd just try to put my opponent in some easy, simple submission move which would give me an upper hand in a bargaining deal.

kain, wrestling is my favorite style of fighting because that is how you END it. Do whatever you have to during the fight, but if you get close and force wrestling, skill alone can let you defeat someone twice your size and once they are pinned the fight ends soon. When someone gets in that close, the only real option is to respond with the same tactics or back up. If they keep coming, you are stuck in a wrestling match. I don't mean the sport wrestling with all the rules and stuff, nor do I mean the fake WWF junk, I mean actual wrestling.

That rather confuses me though, about the whole, "guy twice your size" thing. I mean, true, with enough skill you can wrestle him to victory, but what if the guy twice your size has the same wrestling skill? You'd still be in trouble, wouldn't you?

I heart fighting, but I have to say it is best to avoid fights in general. I used to like to start them, back in ninth grade when I used to like to do just about everything....and unfortunately, I have been in a few. Pushing people's buttons was (and still is, sometimes) a specialty of mine.

As far as werestling goes, that is just fun. I wrestle with friends as often as I get the chance, and it is just amazingly fun. Who cares that my shoulder felt like it had been ripped from the socket for a few days. =) It was awesome, and do it again? Totally. I hope I break something next time.

                          There's just one thing though:

If you're completely aware and conscious during a fight, that means the pain you have to endure will be magnified. Right?

Talk all you want about this fighting mumbo jumbo, but the truth is this:

No one fights fair anymore. It's always like 2 or 3 on 1 and there's usually weapons involved.

A fight can't start if there's a gun pointed at you, and that, my friend, is the sad truth.
